(more steps more time it takes to sim, but more accurate.) - Check additional cloth collision options (I check in this case cloth self-collision only, but you can check all three.) - Cloth draping NONE - Press OK - Clothify the dress - Collide against, check V4 or for a quicker simulation only the body parts of V4 that touch the dress, if V4 sits on the floor, check also the floor, this goes also for any furniture which will come in contact with the dress. - The collision offset and collision depth on value 0.2 if you have problems with arms or hands getting stuck in folds set it 1 or higher. - Do NOT check start draping from zero pose - Check the boxes: Ignore the head and feet collisions if the dress collides with the feet, do not check the feet ignore box, as the dress then can "fall through" the feet which is not desirable.(Depending on the pose you can check the ignore for hand, head and feet). - The dynamic controls/groups are already built into the dress - Pick the Cartoon Document Display Style during simulation it is sometimes faster (OPTIONAL) - Calculate simulation - Switch the display style back to Texture Shaded (Ctrl 9) after finishing the sim (OPTIONAL) ------------------------------------------------------------------ How to Sim the dress with the Pandora Bodyshape on the character: ------------------------------------------------------------------ - On frame 1 Load V4. - Apply Pandora Body. - Load the Pandora Dress (not the V4 version but the Pandora version). - Choose the framecount 20 frames for a standing pose is enough. - On frame 15 pose the figure. - Continue with the Clothroom, follow the instructions on the previous step by step. - Note no need to do a morphframe, make sure everything fits on frame 1. IMPORTANT >>>> After the sim is done you need to set the Bodyshape from the dress from 1 to zero! ________________________________ CLOTHING SIMULATIONS AND MORPHS ________________________________ There are several issues you have to think about when simulating a cloth when you are using body morphs. These are some methods you can use to solve these issues. In general what you do is to start from Start Pose with all body morphs set to 0. Then you set the complete morph in a frame after that. Which frame, depends on how extreme the morph is. If it is a small morph set the morph at frame 5, it is more extreme set it at frame 10. In frame 1 you can 80% scale the figure in z and x axis to make the dynamic cloth smaller. This method is called shrinkwrapping. The figure will push the cloth outward until it reaches its final size at the morph frame where the scale should be back to 100%. It is a good practice to set a spline break for the entire figure at the morph frame. The spline breaks makes sure that the scales and morphs do not “overshoot”. You can set the spline break in the Animation Palette: Open it up from the Window menu. You will see a grid and all elements should have been collapsed. Now select the morph frame for your figure. Once selected press the Toggle Spline Break button in the top right (intersected wave, next to the line). There will now appear a slash in the morph frame position. This will take care of the overshooting problem. There are several other important options. The Steps per frame in the simulation settings will instruct the simulater how many calculations it will do between each frame. Under normal circumstances the default of 2 is sufficient, but with tight fitting clothing you might want to increase this. The Collision Depth controls the maximum distance between cloth and figure. So you can set it low to get very tight fitting clothing. If you do this, make sure you have enough steps per frame otherwise the next calculation may be inside the figure. The Collision Offset is the distance of the cloth and figure where the calculations should begin. If the figures bends are large for each frame, increase the offset so the simulator has a larger range which it can cover. Next the Pose frame. You should give the simulator enough chance to do a good simulation. So if the movements of the body are large, set the pose frame some distance away. For normal standing positions 15 frames should be enough – so default pose figure at frame 1, morphed figure at frame 8 and posed figure at frame 15. With large movements you should possibly go to frame 30 for the pose frame. It is also good practice to add a few simulation frames after the pose frame to give the cloth the chance to drape nicely. How much depends on your preference. Once you have a good simulation you can use the smooth brush to soften the folds. (Thank you to Wimvdb for writing this explanation) _______________ TROUBLESHOOTING _______________ If you experience explosions in the sim, try the following: Set the steps to 5 and set the collision offset and depth to 0.6. Also to avoid that the skirt moves upward, you can shorten the number of frames. For example: Instead of 30 frames, frame 10 morph, frame 20 pose. Rather try 20 frames and on frame 10 morph, frame 20 pose. or try 30 frames and on frame 15 morph, frame 30 pose. So basically no extra or only few frames to settle the cloth. If you prefer the dress to have more volume, give it the extra frames to "settle" upwards. *** If your simulation goes very slow, make sure that you deselect every object or prop that the dress doesn't touch from the collision objects. Or add them after you ran the simulation to the scene (strandbased transmapped hair can slow the simulation for example). Best to run the simulation with only V4 and the dress in the scene. *** If your simulation gives you a popup with a failed message. Clear the simulation (not delete but clear under dynamic controls). Go to edit constrains and remove all. Try to increase the steps to 4, and both collisions to 1. Only check selfcollision, not the other two options. *** When using the Dress-Prop with the Pandora Character Bodyshape, keep in mind that the bodydial is set to 1. After your simulation has finished you need to set the bodyshape morph dial to zero to get the correct fit. This is because the simulation has the morph already baked in. *** This particular dress comes with extra morph dials in the Parameters of the Prop. The Enhance-Reduce Folds Dial and the Push Center Folds Dial. Both are optional and ONLY to be used AFTER the simulation is done. *** When you get selfshadowing artifacts on the skin. You can increase the dial of the shadowlight properties of the shadow min bias. _________ SMOOTHING _________ If you experience poke-through after the simulation, go to the PoseRoom and select the Morphing Tool, select the create tab and brush on the dress with the dress selected on poke-throughs with the Pull option and the middle brush size, decrease the magnitude, after that Smooth it out with the Smooth Brush if necessary. Note: While brushing with the morph tool start on the dress and work on towards the poke to prevent that something else keeps getting selected. If you have Poser Pro 2014 try the Loosen Fit option for poke-throughs, it works wonders, select Victoria 4 as your goal then. You can also use the morph brush on groups, check the Group option in the Morphing Tool and select the part of the dress you want to work on without affecting the other parts. The Tighten Fit Option is great for tightening the sleeves after simulation. - Use the Morph Brush with the Smooth Option on the clothing make the folds more pretty. - If you want the complete prop(s) to be smoothed, you can use Posers Subdivision Levels in the Properties from each prop. However that option is greyed out by default, to activate it you need to do the following: - Select your Figure (V4) - Menu > Figure > Skinning Method > Poser Unimesh - Select your prop and set the Subdivision Levels to 1 - Select V4 and set the Skinning Method back to Poser Traditional (the props keep the subD 1 eventhough they are greyed out again). *** Make sure there is NO pokethrough on frame 1 (use the provided startpose in the pose folder). You can find the dress in the Prop Library in a folder called Godin&Biscuits. All colors you can find in the Materials Library NOT in the Pose library. Select the Dress first if you want to apply a dress style. *** Check Use Displacement Maps in your render settings. Check Smooth Polygons in the render settings. --- A special note: It's possible that the material options do not show up well in Preview, however this doesn't affect the final render. --- >>>This is NOT a merchant resource, NONE of the files may be distributed in any way.<<< The content in this package may NOT be redistributed, copied or sold in any way.
