The 158-foot long ram was armed with two 6.4-inch Brooke double-banded rifled cannons. This fully articulated Poser figure has interior features including the casement gun deck with two fully-articulated cannon, and operating helm, hull interior with boiler with smoke pipe and steam plumbing, two articulated steam engines, and a geared propulsion shaft connected to twin propellers. The interior crew deck, wardroom, and officer quarters have operating doors. Multiple cameras are included preset for interior views and poses are provided to hid parts of the figure for wider interior views. A configuration pose is included to turn the Albemarle into its sister ship the CSS Neuse, which had four additional gun ports. Refer to the file list below for file locations. In general, Albemarle Poser files will be found in the "Michael_C/Albemarle" folder. Note that although most of the Poser files may be moved to other locations, the geometries and textures MUST be left in the listed locations. -------------------------------------- Usage Tips: The CSS Albemarle figure includes some preloaded props. To access the controls the Albemarle figure Body is selected by default. Parameter dials - The parameter dial groups load collapsed for convenience. Open a group or subgroup to use it. Transform These standard dials control the overall scale and position of the Albemarle and parented attachments. - Translation Set X, Y, X position using Sway, Heave, and Surge nautical term dials - Rotation Control roll, pitch, and yaw Control Steer - Turn the wheel in concert with the rudder. Turn Propellers – The multiple drive shafts and gears turn coordinated with the propellers. The figure includes steam engine and transmission linkage to the propeller shafts. Because of the mathematical complexity of crankshaft movement, movement is limited to the first full revolution of the main driveshaft. Hatches and Interior Doors The hinged hatches and doors are opened with individual dials. (The two gun deck hatches are lifted from the hatch openings. Separate poses are provided to place these in closed or opened positions. Guns Three dials control the position of each gun: Elevate Gun – The Gun barrel is elevated or depressed and the elevation apparatus turns in concert. Roll Gun Out – The upper gun carriage rolls toward or away from the gun port with the carriage block and tackle moving in concert. Turn Gun – The main gun carriage rotates to face one of the gun ports: 0 – straight forward or aft +1, -1 – quarter ports (CSS Neuse configuration only) +2, -2 – side ports Open Gun Ports Open the named port. (Ports have only two positions: closed and open; they are not articulated.) Neuse Ports Open the four additional Neuse configuration gun ports. Flag Rotate Flag – Rotates the flag around the flagpole. The three gravity and wind dials offer body-level adjustment of the flag morphs. Other Open the firebox door. Ring ship's bell right to left POSES M4 and V4 Crew poses - Turn off IK before posing figures. M4 and V4 poses are positioned to match the as-loaded Albemarle figure. Poses may require some adjustment for clothing. (Be sure to parent the figures to the Albemarle figure if you wish to move them in concert.) The Pull Left and Right poses (corresponding rope smart Rope Left and Right props should be loaded) are set for the 0 Rotate Gun positions. To use them for other gun positions: o Load and select M4 or V4, set Pull pose and load corresponding rope prop. o Set M4 or V4 figure parent to Subcarriage (for the FWD gun) or Subcarriage_1 (for the AFT gun). o M4 or V4 and rope will rotate in concert with the gun. Hide-Show Poses The numbered poses hide or show parts of the Albemarle figure to show portions of the interior. 1 Hide Pilothouse – simply hides the pyramidal pilothouse atop the casement. 2 Hide Casement Top – hides the casement top and attached objects including the pilothouse (number 1). 3 Hide Casement – Hides the casement and attached objects and includes 1 and 2. * Separate Show Casement poses are provided for the Albemarle and Neuse configurations. Be sure to use the Show pose for the current configuration. (Please note that these show poses only restore visibility and do not perform actor adjustments. Use the Configuration poses to actually set the configuration.) 4 Hide Gun Deck – Hides the gun deck and both guns. Does not hide the casement so number 3 should be applied too. 5 Hide Deck – Hides the exterior deck. You'll need to apply numbers 3 and 4 as well. * Separate Show Deck poses are provided for the Albemarle and Neuse configurations. Other Hide/Show poses are provided for the casement ladder, the davits and the anchors. The individual Hide Anchor poses should be use when the corresponding At-Anchor chain props are loaded. Gun Deck Poses Individual poses are supplied to place each of the gun deck hatch covers in open or closed positions. Configuration Poses The Neuse pose changes the figure to the CSS Neuse. The Albemarle pose restores Albemarle configuration. PROPS The overhead and wall hooks are provided to be placed anywhere in the interior to hang your hammocks, coats, lanterns, etc. The 2D smoke plan loads parented to the stack, oriented so it faces the left. It is set up so that it may be rotated around the stack to match your camera position and wind direction. LIGHTS Simple Day and Night lights are supplied. These or any other scene lights of your may be loaded normally. Two sets of simple interior light sets are included. Note that these will replace any other lights in the scene unless you "Add" it (double check mark) to the scene rather than "Apply" it (single check mark). o Firefly Interior Lights – More suitable for Firefly renders o Superfly Interior Lights – More suited for Poser 11 Superfly rendering When loading other lights after loading an interior set use than the "Add to Scene" widget or the interior lights will be deleted. The interior lights are positioned within the interior rooms when the Albemarle figure is at its as-loaded position and orientation. They are not parented to the figure. Note that each of these lights can be repositioned or otherwise adjusted for particular render effects. o The supplied Firebox Fire light is positioned within the firebox and has the same caveats and limitations as the other interior lights. ------------------------------ -- DAZ Studio Compatibility - ------------------------------ The CSS Albemarle figure loads, operates, and renders well in DAZ Studio. Some of the parameter controls operate differently in DAZ Studio. o Open Gun Ports – The gun ports are not rigged for intermediate positions. Whereas in Poser the port snaps open, in DAZ Studio you must manually select the extreme open and closed positions. Differences between the operation of Poser and DAZ Studio prevent some of the product Hide/Show poses from working correctly in DAZ Studio. Some of the these poses include attached props and DAZ Studio applies these poses only to the main Albemarle figure. As a result props such as the flag, casement ladders, and anchor davits will remain on when they should have been hidden and an auxiliary gun deck edge and a blank intended to hide empty areas of the model are not turned on. These must be turned off and on manually. Similarly, the specific hide/show poses for the ladders, anchors and davits, don't work and these parented props must hidden/shown manually. DAZ Studio uses different camera designations from Poser so the included camera presets don't all work.
