In addition, there are 21 optional foam pieces. These foam objects can be applied to the top of one of the water surfaces if you have a spray or plume of water that would be falling onto the water surface and creating foam at the points of impact. * Five small-size round water surfaces of progressively larger sizes, * Two medium-size round water surfaces, one is turbulent and one is calm * One large-size round water surface, * One extra-large size round water surface, * One hexagonal shaped water surface of medium size, * One octagonal shaped water surface of meidum size, * Five different foam surfaces for the largest of the small-size round water surfaces (that is, for round disk water surface #5), * Six different foam surfaces for the medium-size round water surface * Five different foam surfaces for the large-size round water surface * Five different foam surfaces for the extra-large-size round water surface * A reference image of the 21 foam surfaces in thumbnail form to make it easy to select an appropriate foam for a water surface. REQUIREMENTS: Any application that can import OBJ files. Installation Instructions: It is typical to "IMPORT" the selected *.obj file into your application, using the application's "Import" command. Normally, executing the "Import" function brings up a search window that allows you to navigate to the desired *.obj file. Normally, you do not need to also import the *.mtl file that corresponds to the selected *.obj file. The *.mtl file is read automatically upon import. Normally, the purpose of the *.mtl file is to tell the 3D application which materials or textures are applied to the object, and where to locate those materials or textures. Usage and Tip: The round water surfaces are intended to be placed into round basins and fountains. The round water surfaces have physically accurate irregular surfaces character of pools of water. They provide a photo-realistic image of water as would naturally occur in a fountain or basin, given a slight movement of air across the surface of the water. The hexagonal and octagonal water surfaces are used in the same manner, but these fit into the octagonal and hexagonal fountains typical of Middle Eastern cultures. Please note that the water surfaces, and the foam objects can be re-scaled to fit your fountain or basin. To aid in re-scaling, the pivot points for each foam and each water surface are centered in the object in the horizontal plane, but positioned at the bottom of each object in the vertical plane. This pivot point location makes it easier to re-scale these objects while minimizing vertical distortions of the caustic patterning of the mesh. You should apply a standard water or glass material for your 3D application to any of the water surfaces. The mesh making up eash water surface is constructed so that it will create caustic patterns when light passes through the water surface and falls as a shadow onto the bottom of a basin or fountain. A caustic pattern looks like patches of light enveloped by thin shadows in ripple form. Caustic patterns, in the 3D world, usually have to be created by applying special materials to a plane water surface, and/or using special kinds of lighting. Here, these are built into the meshes, so simple lighting, and applying simple water or glass materials to the water surface objects is all that is needed. A picture in this package, "DiskPlacementTips.jpg" shows how you can position a round water surface within a water basin structure or fountain so that the caustic pattern will display well on the floor of the basin or fountain. You should apply a glossy white material to any of the foam objects. Some 3D rendering applications, such as Maxwell Render or V-Ray have dedicated foam materials that you can apply to the foam objects in this package. Because there are a lot of alternative foams that you can add to one of the water surfaces, a picture that is a collection of thumbnails of the foam is included in this package. These thumnails give you a quick image of each foam object, making it easier to select one appropriate for your scene.
