--------------------------------------------------- Product Name: 1950s Concept Space Station Copyright 2026 Michael Crisafulli Contact Michael_C via Renderosity Site Mail -------------------------------------- Product Description During the 1950s Werner von Braun and space exploration enthusiast Willey Ley described orbital space station concepts in Colliers and other magazines. The station that von Braun presented in a TV program was released in 1958 as a plastic model kit by Strombecker and later by Glencoe. Although the stations described differed in detail they were conceived as nuclear powered wheels that spun to create artificial gravity. As represented here, spinning at about 6 rpm the main level in the rime would experience about six tenths earth's gravity. The cylindrical core of the station, which includes an airlock and docking port, has an essentially zero-gee environment. Gravity gradually increases as one moves along the three wide spokes toward the rim. Crew members can climb down the spokes to the rim on ratlines similar to those used on sailing ships. Each spoke has a cog elevator for moving equipment or for more comfortable transfer. The narrow, black, bicycle-spoke-like tubes are not structural, but a radiator for cooling the nuclear power plant. The 1950s Space Station is a poseable Poser figure, sized for Poser people. Created in Poser, it's compatible with DAZ Studio (see below for details). FIGURE o Space Station The poseable Space Station figure has ERC controls at the Body level that: o Open several hatches o Operate an elevator between the core and rim PROPS (preloaded) o Sleep pods with closeable curtains o Desks and chairs o Work table with stool o Easy chairs o Storage cabinets o Spoke ratline CAMERAS o Full camera set positioned for easy viewing and rendering of the full Space Station figure. Includes main, auxiliary, left, right, top, bottom, front and back cameras. o Interior & exterior Dolly CAMs POSES o Hide sections of the skin to view interior o Crew poses for M4 & V4 Special o Docking and docked poses for the Space Taxi (separately available in the Marketplace) LIGHTS o Earth in-orbit set o Station interior lights TEXTURES Image maps up to 4000x4000. All components are UV-mapped with texture templates included. GEOMETRY All components use external geometry in the Poser geometries folder. -------------------------------------- System Requirements: Poser 6 and above Compatible with DAZ Studio (see Compatibility notes below) -------------------------------------- Ownership Statement: All of the content in this package was created by Michael Crisafulli (Michael_C) and may include derivatives of the following vendor/merchant resources: One or more textures on this 3D model have been created with images from Textures.com. These images may not be redistributed by default. Please visit www.textures.com for more information. One or more textures used elements fro ArtOfDreams Metal merchant resource. Public domain graphics from Wikimedia. -------------------------------------- Notes on the Model The Space Station was inspired by the Stombecker plastic model kit and photos of completed models. Practical details, such as the partial interior, were added based on 1950s magazine articles, TV program still images, and 1950s era furniture. -------------------------------------- Installation Instructions: Unzip files to your main Poser directory, being sure to check "Use Folder Names" and the files will unpack to their proper location. Refer to the file list below for file locations. Components are found in the "Michael_C/Space Station" folder within each of the Poser sub-libraries (Figure, Pose, etc.). Note that although most of the Poser files may be moved to other locations, the geometries and textures MUST be in the listed locations. -------------------------------------- Usage Tips: The Space Station figure uses ERC controls at the Body level. For easy access to the controls the figure's Body loads selected by default. PARAMETER DIALS - The parameter dial groups load collapsed for convenience. Open a group or subgroup to use its dials. Transform Resize - This dial changes the size of the entire figure. Other standard transform dials control rotation and position of the figure within the scene. Hatches Open the Spoke, Airlock, and Docking hatches individually. (Other hatches are static.) Misc Operate the spoke elevator between the station central core and outer ring. POSES HIDE & SHOW portions of the station side to view the partial interior. Crew poses for M4 & V4: These poses match the station in its as-loaded position. The elevator poses are for the Elevator in its default as-loaded position. (M4 & V4 need to be parented to the Elevator to move with it.) (General poses from your own library may be used, although the target figure must be rotated to match the ring floor orientation. Zero-gee poses may be used in the core where the artificial gravity is near zero.) MAT Default (as-loaded) material set SPECIAL Poses are provided to dock the (separately available) 1950s Space Taxi with the station. (The station Docking Hatch should be opened beforehand.) A special MAT pose is supplied for the taxi. PROPS o Preloaded furnishings o The sleep pod curtains morph to close the curtain. (Select the Close Curtain dial on the pod curtain prop.) o Extras Additional Chair, Easy Chair & Stool (unparented) Additional platform for lower level LIGHTS Orbit set – Bright sun and earth glow Special (These light sets must be added to the scene or they will replace any other lights previously loaded) Lights parented to the space station interior. (The elevator light is parented to and moves with the elevator.) CAMERAS Full Set - All the standard cameras are positioned to show the complete figure in its default loaded position. Note that adjustments may be necessary depending on your document window setup. Various interior & exterior Dolly CAM views. ------------------------------ -- DAZ Studio Compatibility -- Tested in DAZ Studio 4.21 to the extent that parameter controls and various figure poses work as intended. I've made no attempt to convert or optimize materials. The Space Station figure loads, operates and renders in DAZ Studio. The Ring Section HIDE pose does not hide the attached Cabinet prop in Studio. The prop must be selected and hidden manually. Similarly for the Sides SHOW pose. DAZ Studio uses different camera designations from Poser so the included camera presets don't all work. Those that work may require adjustment. ------------------------------ List of files contained within this product's zip files. :Documentation:Michael_C 1950s_Space_Station_ReadMe.txt 1950sSpaceStation.pdf Marketplace_Standard_License.txt :Runtime:Geometries:MCC:50sStation CABINET1uv-P.obj CABINETuvB-P.obj Cabinet6B-P.obj DeskUV-P.obj E-ChairUV-P.obj PlatformUV-P.obj RatlineUV1-P.obj SleepPodCurtain-P.obj SleepPodUV1-P.obj Station1UV-P.obj StoolUV-P.obj Storage3A-P.obj Storage3B-P.obj chairUV2-P.obj :Runtime:libraries:Camera:Michael_C:Space Station Camera Set.cm2 Camera Set.png :Runtime:libraries:Camera:Michael_C:Space Station:Exterior CAMs Core View.cm2 Core View.png Docking Port 1.cm2 Docking Port 1.png Docking Port 2.cm2 Docking Port 2.png Rim View.cm2 Rim View.png Spoke View.cm2 Spoke View.png :Runtime:libraries:Camera:Michael_C:Space Station:Interior CAMs Airlock 1.cm2 Airlock 1.png Airlock 2.cm2 Airlock 2.png Core 1.cm2 Core 1.png Core 2.cm2 Core 2.png Core 3.cm2 Core 3.png Core 4.cm2 Core 4.png Ring 1.cm2 Ring 1.png Ring 2.cm2 Ring 2.png Ring 3.cm2 Ring 3.png Ring 4.cm2 Ring 4.png Ring 5.cm2 Ring 5.png Ring 6.cm2 Ring 6.png Spoke 1.cm2 Spoke 1.png Spoke 2.cm2 Spoke 2.png :Runtime:libraries:Character:Michael_C:Space Station Space Station.cr2 Space Station.png :Runtime:libraries:Light:Michael_C:Space Station Orbit Set.lt2 Orbit Set.png :Runtime:libraries:Light:Michael_C:Space Station:Special !
