The latest version, Long March 10, will launch the next generation Chinese crewed spacecraft, the Mengzhou. The Long March 10 has several variations. The most powerful will launch the Mengzhou and the Lanyue lander separately to the moon. A simpler version will launch the Mengzhou for low Earth orbit missions. The Long March vehicles are poseable Poser figures, sized for Poser people. Created in Poser, they're compatible with DAZ Studio (see below for details). FIGUREs o Long March 10 – 3 stages plus boosters heavy lift vehicle o Long March 10A – 2 stages for low Earth orbit missions The poseable Long March figures have ERC controls at the Body level that: o Simulate a mission profile o Simulate a mission abort scenario PROPS (Pre-loaded) o Simple Dummy Mengzhou spacecraft o Escape Tower Escape and Jettison flames POSES o Flight phases o Utility HIDE/SHOW o Default MAT o Alternate Long March 10 booster configuration o Special Mengzhou figure integration CAMERAS o Full camera set positioned for easy viewing and rendering of the full Mengzhou figure. Includes main, auxiliary, left, right, top, bottom, front and back cameras. LIGHTS o Daylight set TEXTURES Image maps up to 4000x4000. All components are UV-mapped with texture templates included. Public domain graphics from Wikimedia. -------------------------------------- Notes on the Model There are photos of simple mockups of the Long March and some artist and modeler depictions. I expect the details shown in these depictions are mostly speculative. I used these photos and photos of recent Long March test articles and test flights. -------------------------------------- Installation Instructions: Unzip files to your main Poser directory, being sure to check "Use Folder Names" and the files will unpack to their proper location. Refer to the file list below for file locations. Components are found in the "Michael_C/Long March" folder within each of the Poser sub-libraries (Figure, Pose, etc.). There are separate subfolders for the Long March 10 and 10A figures within the Long March folder. -------------------------------------- Usage Tips: The Long March figures use ERC controls at the Body level. For easy access to the controls the figure's Body loads selected by default. PARAMETER DIALS - The parameter dial groups load collapsed for convenience. Open a group or subgroup to use its dials. Transform Resize - This dial changes the size of the entire figure. Other standard transform dials control rotation and position of the figure within the scene. Flight Phases Flight Phase – Proceeds through the launch sequence, turning engines on and off, separating stages, etc. Abort Scenario – Separates the crew module from the vehicle using the escape tower Stage 1 Recovery (Long March 10A only) Deploy Grid Fin mechanisms Incline individual fins Deploy Capture Arms POSES (Separate sets for Long March 10 & 10A) Default MAT - As-loaded material Flight Phases – Selected setup for individual phases Mengzhou Figure Special – Use the separately available Mengzhou Spacecraft figure with the launch vehicle Alternate Booster Configuration (Long March 10 only) PROPS Preloaded o Escape tower jettison and escape propulsion flames o Simplified dummy Mengzhou spacecraft LIGHTS Simple Daylight set. CAMERAS (Separate set for the Long March 10 and 10A) Full Sets - All the standard cameras are positioned to show the complete figure in its default loaded position. SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS Set up abort scenario (There are separate Long March 10 and 10A poses & props) 1. Apply "Reparent Mengzhou Crew Module" pose 2. Use Body-level "Abort" parameter OR "Abort" pose Using the Menzhou figure (Requires Mengzhou Spacecraft Marketplace product) General Use 1. With Long March figure selected, apply "Dummy Mengzhou HIDE" pose 2. Load Mengzhou figure 3. Apply "Position Mengzhou" pose from appropriate Mengzhou Figure Special folder (There are separate Long March 10 and 10A folders) 4. Assign Mengzhou figure parent to DMengzhouCM prop Using the Mengzhou figure in the Abort scenario 1. Follow Mengzhou figure ateps 1-4 above 2. Hide Mengzhou figure Service Module 3. Option 1: With Long March figure selected, apply "Dummy Mengzhou SM SHOW" pose Option 2: 1. Load a second Mengzhou figure and apply "Position Mengzhou" pose as above 2. Hide 2nd Mengzhou figure Crew Module 3. Assign 2nd Mengzhou figure parent to DMengzhouSM prop 4. Follow "Set up abort" steps above ------------------------------ -- DAZ Studio Compatibility -- Tested in DAZ Studio 4.21 to the extent that parameter controls and various figure poses work as intended. I've made no attempt to convert or optimize materials. The Long March figures load, operate (see below) and render in DAZ Studio. The Poser Visibility control used in the mission phase sequences is not supported in DAZ Studio. Accordingly, the Flight Phase parameter controls don't operate completely. Flight Phase poses work partially. In Studio, poses are not applied to props, so the Escape Tower abort and jettison flames, which are props, don't turn on or off. They must be changed manually. Likewise, any pose that hides or shows a dummy Mengzhou prop doesn't work unless applied to the prop directly. It's simpler to perform the hide or show manually. The "re-parent" pose doesn't work. This operation must be done manually. The propulsion flames use the Poser "ambient" material channel that doesn't render the same way in Studio. DAZ Studio uses different camera designations from Poser so the included camera presets don't all work.
