--------------------------------------------------- Product Name: X-24A Lifting Body Copyright 2026 Michael Crisafulli Contact Michael_C via Renderosity Site Mail -------------------------------------- Product Description The X-24A was an experimental aircraft built to test lifting body capabilities with the aim of developing the concept of unpowered space vehicle reentry and landing. The X-24A was carried to an altitude of 45,000 feet by a B-52 where it was released. It made twelve unpowered gliding tests in 1969 and 1970, and twenty-eight rocket-powered flights in 1970 and 71. The powered flights reached an altitude of around 70,000 feet and speeds around 1000 mph before gliding to an unpowered landing. The X-24A Lifting Body is a poseable Poser figure, sized for Poser people. Created in Poser, it's compatible with DAZ Studio (see below for details). FIGURE o X-24A The poseable X-24 figure has ERC controls at the Body level that: o Operate the pilot controls coordinated with control surface movement o Retract the landing gear o Open the canopy PROPS o Rocket exhaust (smart props) CAMERAS o Full camera set positioned for easy viewing and rendering of the X-24A Lifting Body figure. Includes main, auxiliary, left, right, top, bottom, front and back cameras. o Close up cockpit Dolly CAMs POSES o M4, V4 pilot LIGHT o Simple Daylight set TEXTURES Image maps up to 4000x4000. All components are UV-mapped with texture templates included. GEOMETRY All components use external geometry in the Poser geometries folder. -------------------------------------- System Requirements: Poser 6 and above Compatible with DAZ Studio (see Compatibility notes below) -------------------------------------- Ownership Statement: All of the content in this package was created by Michael Crisafulli (Michael_C) and may include derivatives of the following vendor/merchant resources: One or more textures used images from textures.com. Public domain graphics from Wikimedia. -------------------------------------- Notes on the Model The X-24A Lifting Body figure is based on photos of the original X-24A, and of the reconstructed X-24A in the Air Force Museum (the original X-24A was converted to the more streamlined X-24B) and various plans and drawings. -------------------------------------- Installation Instructions: Unzip files to your main Poser directory, being sure to check "Use Folder Names" and the files will unpack to their proper location. Refer to the file list below for file locations. Components are found in the "Michael_C/X-24" folder within each of the Poser sub-libraries (Figure, Pose, etc.). Note that although most of the Poser files may be moved to other locations, the geometries and textures MUST be in the listed locations. -------------------------------------- Usage Tips: The X-24A Lifting Body figure uses ERC controls at the Body level. For easy access to the controls the figure's Body loads selected by default. PARAMETER DIALS - The parameter dial groups load collapsed for convenience. Open a group or subgroup to use its dials. Transform Resize - This dial changes the size of the entire figure. Other standard transform dials control position and orientation of the figure within the scene. Controls Retract LG - Landing gear retract and gear doors close Pitch Stick – Stick moves forward and back coordinated with the flaps, which operated as elevons Roll Stick – Stick moves left and right coordinated with the flaps, which operated as elevons Rudder CTL – Pedals move forward and back coordinated with the upper rudders (Note that surface movement is simplified. A Stability Augmentation System coordinated movement of the rudders with the active flaps.) Special (The X-24 control surfaces were configured and operated differently in subsonic and supersonic flight) Subsonic Surfaces – Configures the flaps and rudders for flight under the speed of sound Supersonic Surfaces - Configures the flaps and rudders for flight over than the speed of sound (The Supersonic control disables the Subsonic parameter. To place the surfaces in unconfigured positions, set both of these parameters to zero.) Speed Brakes – Sets the control surfaces to slow the aircraft Miscel Landing Orientation – rotate the nose up Spin Wheels Open Canopy POSES MATs Default (as-loaded) MAT Air Crew Pilot and passenger poses for M4 & V4 (There are separate poses for the X-24 in landing orientation.) (Poses may require adjustment for clothing.) PROPS (Smart props) o Main Rocket Exhaust (The Power parameter on the prop changes the length of the exhaust.) o Solid Rocket Exhaust (2 small solid rocket motors were used experimentally during landing) LIGHTS Simple Daylight set CAMERAS Full Set - All the standard cameras are positioned to show the complete figure in its default loaded position. Note that adjustments may be necessary depending on your document window setup. Close up Dolly CAMs provide a pilot perspective view and close up exterior views around the cockpit. ------------------------------ -- DAZ Studio Compatibility -- Tested in DAZ Studio 4.21 to the extent that parameter controls and various figure poses work as intended. I've made no attempt to convert or optimize materials. The X-24A Lifting Body figure loads, operates and renders in DAZ Studio. DAZ Studio uses different camera designations from Poser so the included camera presets don't all work. Those that work may require adjustment. ------------------------------ List of files contained within this product's zip files. :Documentation:Michael_C X-24A_Lifting_Body_ReadMe.txt X-24A Lifting Body Promos.pdf Marketplace_Standard_License.txt :Runtime:Geometries:MCC:X-24 RocketExhaust-P.obj SolidExhaust-P.obj X-24Auv-P.obj :Runtime:libraries:Camera:Michael_C:X-24 X-24A Set.cm2 X-24A Set.png :Runtime:libraries:Camera:Michael_C:X-24:Dolly CAMs Cockpit 1.cm2 Cockpit 1.png Cockpit 2.cm2 Cockpit 2.png Cockpit 3.cm2 Cockpit 3.png Cockpit 4.cm2 Cockpit 4.png Pilot View.cm2 Pilot View.png :Runtime:libraries:Character:Michael_C:X-24 X-24A.cr2 X-24A.png :Runtime:libraries:Light:Michael_C:X-24 Daylight.lt2 Daylight.png :Runtime:libraries:Pose:Michael_C:X-24:Air Crew M4 Pilot (Landing).png M4 Pilot (Landing).pz2 M4 Pilot.png M4 Pilot.pz2 V4 Pilot (Landing).png V4 Pilot (Landing).pz2 V4 Pilot.png V4 Pilot.pz2 :Runtime:libraries:Pose:Michael_C:X-24:MATs Default MAT.png Default MAT.pz2 :Runtime:libraries:Props:Michael_C:X-24 Rocket Exhaust.png Rocket Exhaust.pp2 Solid Exhaust.png Solid Exhaust.pp2 :Runtime:textures:MCC:IBL cloudscape-day.jpg :Runtime:textures:MCC:X-24 MC-24-CanopyGlass.jpg MC-24-CanopyGlassAlpha.jpg MC-24-Cockpit.jpg MC-24-CockpitBump.jpg MC-24-Consoles.jpg MC-24-ControlPanel.jpg MC-24-ESeat.jpg MC-24-Engine.jpg MC-24-Exhaust.jpg MC-24-ExhaustAlpha.jpg MC-24-GaugeFaces.jpg MC-24-InstGlassAlpha.jpg MC-24-LG.jpg MC-24-LGdoors.jpg MC-24-LGdoorsBump.jpg MC-24-Misc.jpg MC-24-Skin.Bump.jpg MC-24-Skin.jpg \Templates\Michael_C\X-24A\ CanopyGlass.bmp Cockpit.bmp Consoles.bmp ControlPanel.bmp EngineAssy.bmp Eseat.bmp Exhaust.bmp GaugeFaces.bmp InstGlass.bmp LG.bmp LGdoors-wells.bmp Misc.bmp Skin.bmp
