Scene Porter Copyright (c) 2026 Magtheridon3D. All rights reserved. Release date: October 2026. Version 1.0.3 Vendor: Magtheridon3D PRODUCT DESCRIPTION ------------------- Scene Porter is a Windows program that packs a DAZ Studio scene (.duf) and every file it needs into one portable folder: figures, characters, morphs, HD morph data, correctives, clothing, hair, props, geometry, UV sets, materials and textures. Copy the folder to another computer, add it as a content library and open the scene. - Copies only the files the scene uses, not whole products or libraries. - Follows the morph links DAZ Studio loads silently from a figure's Morphs folder (character shapes switched on by a controller, correctives). - Checks the result automatically as if it were the only content library on a new computer, and writes a detailed report (report.txt). - Optional exact mode: a small DAZ Studio script (included) saves the list of morphs that are in effect in your scene; Scene Porter then includes every one of them, however it is linked. - Copies files the scene names by an absolute path (outside the content libraries) and points the COPY of the scene to them. - Interface in English, Russian and Spanish. Reports are in English. - Never changes your original files. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS ------------------- - PC only: Windows 10 or Windows 11, 64-bit. - Scenes (.duf) saved with DAZ Studio 4.x or DAZ Studio 6. - The content libraries the scene was built with, reachable from this computer. - About 60 MB of disk space for the program, plus space for the packages. - No other software has to be installed. DAZ Studio is not needed on the computer that packs the scene. NEEDED FILES ------------ DAZ Studio (free) - to open the packed scenes: https://www.daz3d.com/get_studio On the computer that opens a packed scene, DAZ Studio's free base package "Default Resources for DAZ Studio" must be installed (it is normally installed together with DAZ Studio). Scene Porter tells you when a scene uses it. INSTALLATION ------------ 1. Unzip ScenePorter.zip to any folder, for example Documents. 2. Open the folder "ScenePorter" and double-click ScenePorter.exe. Keep ScenePorter.exe together with the folders "runtime" and "app". 3. If Windows shows "Windows protected your PC", click "More info" and then "Run anyway". 4. To uninstall, delete the folder "ScenePorter". Optional: also delete %APPDATA%\ScenePorter and %LOCALAPPDATA%\ScenePorter (settings and cache). USAGE TIPS AND LIMITATIONS -------------------------- - Choose the scene, add ALL content libraries the scene uses (or press "Find automatically"), choose an EMPTY output folder outside your libraries and press "Extract". - Add the library folder that contains "data" and "Runtime", not those folders themselves. - For an exact copy of complex characters, use the morph list: open the scene in DAZ Studio, run ScenePorter\ScenePorter_MorphList.dsa (File > Open... or drag it into the viewport) and save the list next to the scene. Scene Porter fills in the list automatically when it has the default name (_morphlist.txt). report.txt (section MORPH LIST FROM DAZ STUDIO) shows what the list added. - The first run on a large library takes longer: Morphs folders are read once and cached. Later runs are much faster. - "Missing" greater than 0 means a file is not in the selected libraries. report.txt (section NOT FOUND) tells you which file and why. - On the other computer, add the package folder as a content directory in DAZ Studio (Edit > Preferences > Content Library > Content Directory Manager), or merge its folders into an existing library. Then open the scene from the "Scenes" folder of the package. - If ScenePorter.exe is blocked by an antivirus program, allow the folder or start app\start_without_exe.bat. - Geometry Shells are not transferred. DAZ Studio generates a shell locally from the figure it covers, so there is no file to pack. After opening the scene on the other computer, create the shell again (Create > New Geometry Shell) or load the product's shell preset again. - Compatibility: there are many thousands of DAZ products, and some vendors build or link their files in their own special way. Scene Porter has been tested with many different products, but it cannot be guaranteed to handle every product on the market. If a packed scene looks different, pack it again with a morph list (exact mode, see above). - Limitations: the automatic check follows files and morph links but does not start DAZ Studio. Scripts (.dsa/.dse) are copied when referenced, but their own dependencies are not analysed. Poser-format scenes and DAZ Connect (cloud) content are not supported. - Content licences still apply: use packages to move or archive your own scenes; do not share content you are not allowed to share. - The full user guide is in Documentation\ScenePorter_Tutorial.pdf.
