************************************************************ *Product Name: EVERYPlant Zosterophyllum Myretonianum *Copyright: Tony Meszaros (EVERYPlant) October 2026 Please Contact EVERYPlant via Renderosity Site Mail ************************************************************ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Product description ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Name: Zosterophyllum Myretonianum Period: Early Silurian to Late Devonian, 425 to 393 million years ago. This Variation: This version is for use with DazStudio, versions for Poser and Vue also available. Notes: It formed large trunk-like structures up to 1 metre wide, reaching 8 metres in height, made up of tiny interwoven tubules around 50 micrometres in diameter, making it by far the largest land-dwelling organism of its time. It is widely considered a fungus, but the debate is ongoing. Its exact relationship with extant fungus lineages is uncertain. It was almost certainly a perennial organism that grew over multiple years. Several ecologies have been proposed, including that it was saprotrophic (feeds on dead organic material) like many modern fungi. Notes: A vascular land plants with naked branching axes on which usually sporangia were arranged in lateral positions. The axes (stems) are naked, lacking leaves or outgrowths (enations). When branching occurs, the branches are either isotomous (equally sized) or pseudomonopodial (one branch is larger than the other). The sporangia are upright on short stalks.
