It was maintained by the north german merchant guild "Hanse", a powerful alliance of cities that gained much influence in the North Sea and Baltic Sea, so much that they could challenge even the kings of Denmark and England. The ship is a so called "Kraweel", which means that the planks of the hull formed a smooth surface, not a rippled one as with the viking ships. It is one of the first vessels to have three masts. Many other nations had ships of this type. There are no artefacts of that type, but some contemporary depictions, so a reconstruction is a little bit speculative. In the german town Lübeck, former head of the "Hanse", a 1:1 replica is under construction. My model shows the main features, including main features of the rigging which would be too ambitious to be worked out completely. ******************************************************************************************** Content: (see also file list below) With this Zip-File (complete size ~ 5.2 MB) you receive pp2-Files containing the props to build up the ship as shown in the main image.Included are their texture files, bumpmap files and re- spective template files: 1. Craweel - Props (the ships main hull and upper hull with masts and rigg) with sails and ancors removed. 2. Ancors up - Prop to show the situation, when the ship is in sea. (If you want the ship in harbour, remove these ancors. You can use a slim cylinder to simulate the ancor cable.) 3. Full Sails - Props for each of the three sails, decorated with the arms of the town Lübeck, also without arms, to allow you a decoration of your choice. 4. Sails up - Props for each of the three sails, when raised up 5. Flags - Props for each of the three masts. By default coloured as flags of Lübeck, but can be decorated by choice (use the templates). 6. Stand - Prop to depict the ship as a ship model, when required for such purposes. *** Lordcrusan created a Bonus equippement for a weather torn pirate ship with emblem and *** *** transparency maps for damage sails ! Thanks, Lordcrusan, for making them available ! *** There are only some good ship models in the net, so I wanted to do one, that can be used for various scenes, ranging as background of a medieval harbour scene, for leaving crusaders or merchants, or as center of a scene with pirates, sea serpents, fantasy crew and so on.. The size of the ship allows to have persons in the scene too, but might be not easy to position them. ******************************************************************************************** Installation: The prop files are expected to be situated in your Poser directory under --> Runtime\libraries\props\pauliprop_craweel\... The texture files are expected to be situated in your Poser directory under --> Runtime\textures\pauliprop_tex\craweel\... If all goes right, the self-extraction of the zip-file should create the right directories. Open Poser with a new image. Go to the prop depot and import the "hull" at first. The "rigg" is parented to the "hull", Sails and Flags are parented to the "rigg". The two "shot"-props are parented to the respective sails ( it is not very probable that you will notice their presence, if you don't like too many items, leave them away). The ancors are parented to the "hull", as well as the model stand. The prop was imported at a size of 100%, which means, that, if you want to have persons on board, you will have to increase size considerably. The parented props will have to be re- sized individual by the same percentage. The original ship is reported to have a length of about 30.00 meters. Notes: In order to provide a good image even at lager sizes, the textures are of a pretty big size and eat memory. If you find that you don't need that full size ( when not using the props as center part of an image),downsize the maps and resharpen the smaller map. It should bring still a good result. The Template Files are marked by the ending "_T". They need not to be installed in Poser4\Runtime\textures\pauliprop_tex\craweel\ Directory. Store it where ever you want. From some angle it will seem that several parts have disappeared. This is a result of POSER's single sided normals. Don't worry! When rendering, every part will be present! Unfortunately it makes it somewhat difficult to place persons onboard the ship. The textures are applied by usage of Steve Cox UV-Mapper. Mostly the planar map was used. ******************************************************************************************** File-List: Readme.txt - This File.
