************************************ * Commando Berets & Brevets* ************************************ -- PRODUCT TITLE: Commando Berets & Brevets AUTHOR: Panos Coliopoulos (Panko) COPYRIGHT: Panos Coliopoulos DATE: January 2006 e-mail: panflynn@otenet.gr -- Ownership Statements or list of Licensed source material: All of this product´s content was created by Panko in Wings3D and the original textures were also created by the same author without the use of any merchant resources. ============================================================================ This is the first batch of an intended two package project on berets and breast paratrooper wings badges. It includes: 5 different types of berets and two variations to fit V3 and M3. Two European cuts, an American, an Israeli and a Russian. The varieties comprise an inverted European beret, to accommodate the French style (they wear the badge on the right hand side instead of the left) and a slightly different in design beret that I used for the German, RSA and Belgian para models. 18 types of beret props, complete with their badges and flashes, fully textured and parented to the V3 and M3 heads (separate props). I have decided to follow this course rather than creating a flat square and play with transparencies and textures for I wanted “solid” and as detailed badges and flashes as possible. 3 mat files to apply different flash textures to the standard US Special Forces and Rangers’ berets and also in order to include some Israeli units using the same badge but a differently coloured beret. For this purpose I made 13 flashes for the US Special Forces and 7 for the Rangers. In a separate folder I took care to include all templates in case you would like to make your own variations. 18 para wings, matching the units defined by the berets. Again these are “solid” and detailed props, not flat squares with a texture thrown on top…:) These are parented to the left or right shoulder of the corresponding figure, V3 and M3, according to the regulations in existence in the armies they represent. 71 detailed textures for berets, flashes, badges and wings. A note about positioning the berets and wings: ================================== The berets are exactly positioned to the head of V3 “wearing” Kozaburo’s chignon hair, which you can download for free –if you don’t have it already at: http://digitalbabes2.com. I used this particular hair for two reasons: a) because it complies with the female military regulations of most contemporary armies and b) because it sits close enough to the skull of the figure, offering thus an ideal starting point for posing. You are free of course to try on other types of hair; the berets are parented to the head of the figure not to the hair, however this would require some dial tweaking to adjust the prop. For M3 I used the excellent USC (Universal Skull Cup) by 3Dream that fits close to the skull, but here again you are free to experiment with the hair of your choice. Positioning of Wings: ------------------------------ The wings are placed on the left of right breast (shoulder in Poser), as required by the regulations of the armies they represent. As a guide I used for V3 PoserWold's "WRAF-Officer jacket-V3" and for M3 also PoserWorld’s "Army-Jacket-M3" (both dress uniform jackets). You can, of course, use the cloths of your liking with minor adjustments, as the props are parented to the figures’ shoulders and not to the cloths. Note on V3: ========= I used the figure “as is”, without applying any of the morphs available. You are free, of course to apply whichever morph you choose, but remember in this case to correct the prop’s positioning (i.e. large breasts or smaller than standard). Same rule applies to M3. Positioning of Props: =============== In Poser: You load your figure, V3 or M3. Before posing load the hair and cloths you would like to use in your scene, then go to Runtime-->libraries--> props --> Panko_Berets (or wherever you have them stored) and click on the beret of your choice. It will load exactly where it should. Then go to Runtime-->libraries--> props --> Panko_Wings and click on the type of wings of your choice –it would load parented to the right or left shoulder of your figure. If the prop failes to show it means that it is covered by the cloth of the jacket or shirt you are using, therefore apply a little tweaking on the dials until you get the wings where you want them. The American Special Forces beret loads with the 5th SFGA flash (with SF crest). To change it go to Runtime-->libraries--> pose --> PankoBerets_USSF_Mats and chose one of your liking. The US Army Rangers beret loads with the standard regimental flash. To change it go to Runtime-->libraries--> pose --> PankoBerets_USAR_Mats and pick one from there. Now for the Israeli beret you must choose from the props the ISR_para beret. Go to Runtime-->libraries--> pose --> PankoBerets_ISR_Mats and chose one of the three available there. Note: The 3 Israeli berets of the mat file are interchangeable only with the ISR_para beret, not with any of the others. A note on Beret textures: ================== Although berets and their badges and flashes load as one prop they are using two different sets of textures, one for the beret and one for the badge or flash. So, in case you decide to change the textures for the beret, do leave the badges/flashes textures alone, or you’d come up with a mess! Exception to this are the American berets, as I explained already, where flashes are interchangeable. It has not been tested on Mac, but chances are that it should work just fine on this platform when using Propack and upwards. NOTE FOR POSER 5 USERS: --------------------------------------------- If any strange "inflation effects" occur when using firefly rendering please uncheck the "Smooth Polygons" option and everything is going to be just fine. ============================= Related products (by Panko’s armory) WWII Weapons – Pack 1: Allied Forces Modern Weapons –Pack 1 ============================= -- FILES LIST (what is included in zip): A complete list can be found at \Readme\FileList.txt -- NEEDED FILES LIST (Files/Programs needed that are not included in the zip): Mac users need Maconverter Poser 4.03 or higher (program) DAZ Victoria 3 and/or DAZ Michael 3 -- DETAILED INSTALATION INSTRUCTIONS a) Extract the zip file to ...\Poser\ b) Alternatively extract the zip file anywhere and place the files manually to the required Poser folders -- EXACT FOLDER NAMES AND LOCATIONS \Runtime\libraries\props\Panko_Berets\ (or to a folder of your choice) \Runtime\libraries\props\Panko_Wings\ (or to a folder of your choice) \Runtime\libraries\pose\PankoBerets_USSF_Mats\ (or to a folder of your choice) \Runtime\libraries\pose\PankoBerets_USAR_Mats (or to a folder of your choice) \Runtime\libraries\pose\PankoBerets_ISR_Mats\ (or to a folder of your choice) \Runtime\textures\Panko\Militaria (this should remain as is) \Runtime\textures\Panko\Militaria\BeretFlashes (this should remain as is) -- CONVERSION AND/OR APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS Mac users would need to use Maconverter and Propack version or upwards.
