INSTALLATION: PC: If you use WinZip, be sure to check "Use folder names" and extract to your Poser folder, i.e., \Curious Labs\Poser 6, not the "Runtime" folder. Mac: Poser 4 and Pro Pack users should use MartinC's Maconverter (www.soft-rabbit.com). Poser 5 and higher do not require file conversion. Folders may be installed according to the Zip structure, moving the files themselves where a folder of the same name already exists. Note: This product contains all files needed by any version of Poser, from version 4 to 6. You may wish to delete files not needed by your version. Use the following guide to delete folders and files. Remember, you still have all the original files in the archived Zip. Character, Pose and Prop files may go in any folder under the respective categories. All other files must go where indicated. Templates: These are provided for making your own textures. POSER 4 BUMP MAP CONVERSION: The bump map, keyBUM.tif, needs to be converted to Poser's .bum format BEFORE loading the prop. To do this, load a simple prop like the ball. Go to Render menu--Materials. In the dialog, click on the Load button for the Bump channel. Browse to textures\Skypilot\Tools, and open the image. Click "Yes" when asked if you want to convert. Delete the ball. The prop may be loaded immediately, or at any later time. USING: ToolboxMk2: In Figures library, category "Tools-P*" (Highlight thumbnail, then click on double-checkmark [Create new figure]) Select the Body of the figure to access special dials to open the drawers, close the lid, and turn the lock. These dials should usually be used instead of the ones in the body parts. For instance, the rails for the drawers travel only half as far as the drawers, moving at a different rate. This is accomplished easily with the dial in the Body. The lock is already turned 90 degrees, and should be put back to zero to lock the box when the lid is closed. Note: The "LidClose" dial in the Body is a quick way to close the lid and fold the links. In intermediate positions the upper link does not remain in contact with the lid, but it does not poke through. To pose the lid in an intermediate position, select the body parts "linklower" and "linkupper" (child of linklower) and pose them separately. There are also two body parts, "divide-L" and "divide-R," in the upper compartment of the toolbox. They may be moved side to side to change the sizes of the compartments, or they may be hidden (Properties - uncheck Visible). CabinetMk2: In Figures library, category "Tools-P*" (Highlight thumbnail, then click on double-checkmark [Create new figure]) The Body of this figure has dials to open the drawers, open the lower compartment, turn the lock, and steer the rightside casters. Again, these dials should be used instead of the ones in the individual body parts. An exception would be if you wanted the wheels at various angles. In that case, use the body parts. The Body dial for the lower compartment, "OpenDoor," uses a special delay channel. The door will rotate 90 degrees, then slide back into the cabinet. Again, it may be posed differently from the body part. The lock for the cabinet is in the locked position. NameplateTboxMk2 & NameplateCabMk2: In Props library, category "Tools-P*" (Highlight the thumbnail, then click on the checkmark.) These are add-on nameplates for the Toolbox & ToolCabinet. Select figure "Toolbox" to add NameplateTboxMk2. Select "ToolCabinet" to add NameplateCabMk2. KeyTboxMk2 & KeyCabMk2: In Props library, category "Tools-P*" (Highlight the thumbnail, then click on the checkmark.) These are key props, and load in the correct locks, as long as the proper figure is selected. Select figure "Toolbox" to add KeyTboxMk2. Select "ToolCabinet" to add KeyCabMk2. Use the respective Body dials (LockTurn & TurnLock) to turn the keys and locks together. ShelfMk2: In Props library, category "Tools-P*" (Highlight the thumbnail, then click on the checkmark.) This is an add-on shelf, which will attach itself to the left side of the ToolCabinet (Be sure ToolCabinet figure is selected). It is parented to the main body part (frame), and you may rotate it and move it to the other side if needed, keeping in mind that those are the wheels that steer, and that handle is usually used for moving the cabinet. MAT Poses: In Poses library, category "MAT_P* ToolStorageMk2" (Highlight the thumbnail, then click on the checkmark.) Be sure the correct figure is selected before applying a preset. Additionally, select the shelf in the Elements dropdown, after selecting the ToolCabinet, to apply its MAT Pose. It must be parented for the MAT Pose to work. Grouping: For ease in moving the Toolbox/Toolcabinet combination, the Toolbox should be parented to the ToolCabinet, which will then move the entire group. To do this, select the Toolbox, and go to Figure menu--Set Figure Parent. From the hierarchy list that appears, scroll to the figure ToolCabinet and click on the body part "frame." Click OK to accept the change. Now, by selecting either the Body of the ToolCabinet or the body part "frame" you can move both boxes, and anything parented to either. FIREFLY RENDER ENGINE: If the FireFly render engine in Poser 5 or 6 is used with "Smooth Polygons" enabled, then certain items should have that option unchecked on the Properties tab. These include the nameplate props, the sideshelf prop, and for close-up shots the main body part (box) of the Toolbox.
