City Streets by Predatron --------------------------------------------------------- Steve Pinchbeck a.k.a Predatron -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Thank you for purchasing this product and your support. This city street product is full of high quality buildings and props. There are two areas to focus on, one is a nice dark and detailed alley, the other is a typical city style recreation area with Basketball court and an area for Park Benches. The 4 main buildings will fit together to form a larger set, there are also two tower blocks that can be moved around to form background buildings. Rather than this being a complete scene the main function of this product is best described as a city kit. It will provide plenty of scope to add extra detailing to your city scenes, each building has been carefully sectioned into manageable groups, so that you can hide any part you don't see in your renders. This is of use if your system resources are a little stretched by removing unwanted geometry. There has been great lengths taken to include as much detail as possible to take advantage of many camera angles. So if you require for instance your action or Superhero to travel across the roof tops this product is for you as there are a number of props and details included on many of the roof tops. Also most buildings include simple textured interior rooms and several opening windows. Included in the many props available are a fire escape, fire hydrant, basketball hoop, basketball, park bench, lamp posts, phone booth, traffic light, sign posts, advertising boards, mail box, trash bin, electric cabinet, air conditioning box, roof pipe, skylight, globe light, hotel sign (Hi and Low-Res), cafe table and chairs, water tower. There are 5 Light sets and 12 camera presets. Please Note this is intended for use with Poser 5 and 6. There a number of procedural materials used as well a mixture of tiled and UV mapped textures. Contents contain: 9 CR2 Figures for Poser 5/6 35 PP2's Props for use with Poser 5/6 12 CM2's Camera Presets for use with Poser 5/6 63 OBJ's 145 jpg textures Required Products: None System Requirements: 512MB or more, Pentium 3 or better, or equivalent processor type. Suitable for use with Poser 5 and 6 - PC/MAC -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Important info -------------- As mentioned earlier this product is best used to enhance your city scenes by adding any of the included buildings or props. If you are going to use this whole product as one scene then several considerations need to be taken in account. Firstly please make sure you have plenty of RAM. I have tried to keep many of the texture maps as small as I can get them without losing quality, but this is a juggling act. So if the whole scene is to be used then be aware there are 143 textures included, these have however been compressed down to 16MB in total. Once you have settled on your camera angle, it is best if you hide any parts you can't actually see, almost every part of the scene can be individually hidden, such as walls, roofs, interiors, props, etc. This will then eliminate any unwanted geometry in your scene. Plan the use of your human figures in the scene, if all your figures are going to be seen at a distance then use a lower-res version of your character. Again by hiding body parts not seen will also help here. For best results I suggest that you use the FireFly renderer, but if your computer is limited on resources then switch to the P4 renderer. Also make sure that you adjust the settings to include displacement maps and the ideal setting would be 0.4. Both the Basketball court and the wire trash bin use displacement maps. Also turn on Raytracing to get the best results for the window refections. There maybe occasion to turn on Texture Filtering, especially if you have the transparency mapped Basketball court fencing. This will however exact more demands on your computer, so hide any bits you don't need and adjust the other settings in the FireFly to compensate, such as turn down the textute resolution and the bucket size. Generally close-up's on the Basketball area seems acceptable, it's when viewed at a distance that the texture can become pixelated. Consider doing multiple renders. The following shadow option is for Poser 6 only. First set-up your scene with the lights and set all shadow settings for each light. Then in the FireFly choose the setting to Render Shadows only. You will then need to save this as a PNG. Next do a second render but this time make sure all the lights in the scene have their shadows turned off. Once rendered and saved import both images into a program such as Photoshop. Make the none-shadow version your background. Then layer the shadow version on top, then in your layer settings select Multiply. The shadows will then show up. In both P5/P6 consider keeping the texture size in your FireFly settings as low as possible. None of the textures included go above 2048 x 2048 px, with the majority less than 512 x 512. Again it's pointless having a high texture setting, say 4096, if all your characters are at a distance. It's best to do a test render at a much lower setting and increase if you need to. If your main character is to be mostly in the foreground, again consider doing multiple renders. You can render the main character separately and then the city scene as your backdrop afterwards. Then stitch them together in Photoshop. PROP POSITIONS -------------- Some props will when loaded be central, however there are a few I have already placed in position relating to a particular building. SO if you load a prop and it doesn't appear directly in front of the default camera, then you will need to zoom out or try another camera to view it. The Hotel Sign, Key Sign, Table and Chairs, and Globe Light are typical examples. Also the Traffic Light figure is loaded on the far right street corner. If you however first load the Roads with Props, this already has both Traffic Lights loaded. LIGHT PRESETS ------------- All lights with the exception of 003.lt2 use Infinite lights. 003.lt2 uses a mixture of Spots and Infinite and is generally a little better in terms of quality of light. TRAFFIC LIGHT ------------- A quick mention about the Traffic Light figure prop. You will notice that just about every part is poseable, so you can set this in many locations and adjust the lights, the Xing display and signage accordingly. The initial loaded location is on the far right street corner if you wonder where it went. By setting all the trans dials to zero will place it into the middle of your scene. FIRE ESCAPES ------------ These fire escapes are very highly detailed as I wanted to make sure they resemble as closely as possible to the real thing, and also that you can get some interesting shadow play from them. However this comes at a cost and will eat into resources. So if you need to than it's best to hide or delete from the scene any fire escape you don't need to see. You can reload the two main escape from the Props library. ROAD SECTIONS PLUS PROPS ------------------------ I decided to make all the road sections as one figure with several parts, so you can move and hide what you want. Also there is a second CR2 that includes a set-up for a number of the street props, such as street lights, phone booth, hydrant, mailbox, etc. All these can be loaded separately if you wish from the Props library. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Usage Rights ------------ You may use this product in any way you see fit whether non-profit or commercial.
