=============== V4 VACUUM TUBES =============== COPYRIGHT (c) 2007 CRAIG COLLISTER. ALL RIGHTS RESERVED. "All of this product's content was created by Craig Collister (MrGorf)." REQUIRED PRODUCTS: Poser 6 or later (e frontier), Victoria 4 Base, Victoria 4 Morphs++ (DAZ) WHAT IT IS: This product contains four dynamic garments for Victoria 4. They are called "Vacuum Tubes" because they are quite possibly the tightest skirts and dress she could have! They use a unique approach to create extra snug wear for a wide variety of morphs - even heavyset ones. Included are a long skirt, a classic knee-length pencil skirt, a miniskirt, and a strapless gown. Also included are 26 procedural textures which can be used on these garments - or anything else you desire. FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO DON'T READ README FILES: Use the "Vac Start Pose." Keep "Start Draping From Zero Pose" turned off. INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS: Unzipping the product file creates a Runtime tree. If you unzip it into your Poser's main directory, it will put the necessary files into their proper places in your main Runtime folder. However, you are encouraged to use an alternate Runtime folder. Unzip the file into the desired alternate folder. If you prefer placing files by hand, see the file and folder locations section at the end of this document for the correct locations of these files. IMPORTANT! HOW TO USE: Due to the unique characteristics of these garments, special steps must be taken in their use. It is assumed that you know the basics of using dynamic clothing. This will not be covered in great detail here. This will require using the timeline to create a short animation, even if you only plan to do a still picture. It is really quite simple, but requires a bit of planning. 1. Start Poser, create a new scene, and load Victoria 4. 2. Go to the "Poses" library and, from the "V4 Vacuum" folder, select "Vac Start Pose" on frame 1 of your timeline. This will make Vicky stand with her feet close together and apply the "Young" full body morph. WARNING!! This will get rid of any other morphs you have, even in the head! You can add them back in later (see below). 3. Making sure Victoria 4 is selected, choose the garment you wish to use from the "Props" library. The folder is called "V4 Vacuum." The garment should automatically be parented to V4. (This is only a problem if your scene already has more than one figure in it. Change the parent if necessary.) 4. Go to about frame 5 or so and apply your desired body morphs. Do not apply an actual pose yet. You might want to allow a few more frames if you are using the Heavy morph. Make a keyframe here so she stays in her start pose. 5. Go to frame 20 to 30, depending on how extreme your pose is, and apply the pose you want Vicky to be in. 6. Using the Animation palette, choose LINEAR INTERPOLATION up to this point. If you are going to animate further, only the frames leading up to this need to be linearly interpolated. This prevents the "going beyond the point" that Spline interpolation may cause. 7. Go to the Cloth Room and set up a simulator. Leave the additional collision options turned off, and allow 3 drape frames. Choose a number of frames up to, and possibly a few frames past, the frame with your desired pose. 8. Clothify the garment. 9. Choose "Collide Against..." and select Victoria 4. To speed the calculation, only select body parts likely to cause a collision. You do not need to select the head, neck, forearms, and hands. For the skirts, you do not need to select the shoulders, collars, or chest, either. Use sound judgement for best results. 10. Set the Collision Offset and Collision Depth to 0.5 each. 11. Make sure "Start Draping From Zero Pose" IS NOT CHECKED!! 12. Set the Dynamics controls as you desire. Suggested starting points are Fold Resistance 15, Shear Resistance 25, Stretch Resistance 15. 13. Run the simulation. 14. Choose a lovely texture to use for the garment. Apply it to the "Cloth" material only. You can do this earlier if you wish. 15. Render and be happy! USAGE TIPS / LIMITATIONS: 1. All garments use an invisible material called "Tape" to make sure the garments do not fall off. The top row of vertices this material should be part of the "Constrained" group. In the Strapless Dress, there is a gap of selected vertices in the center of the chest (this is normal). If the garment falls off, make sure the Constrained group is set. You can make the Tape material opaque if you wish, but it gets a bit mangled as part of the simulation so you probably don't want to render it. 2. This product will not fit tightly on Victoria 4's "emaciated" morph. 3. On the strapless gown, if you notice some sections popping up creating "horns" on the front of the chest area, try removing vertices from the "constrained" group. Remove one pair (one on the left, one on the right) at a time until the problem goes away. 4. Avoid using the "Object vertex against cloth polygon," "Object polygon against cloth polygon," and "cloth self-collision" options in the cloth simulator unless you are having problems with the simulation. These sometimes create more problems than they solve, and they greatly increase simulation time. 5. Be aware that some poses, like doing the splits, are simply too much for these poor clothes to handle! Please have reasonable expectations. 6. The procedural textures with "busy" patterns may not be especially appropriate if you're doing actual animations with the Vacuum Tubes. Stick to simpler patterns instead. 7. While these garments are UV mapped, using image mapped textures is not especially recommended due to the extreme stretching that takes place. 8. UV map templates are available in the Runtime/Textures/MrGorf/V4 Vacuum folder. 9. Each garment is automatically parented to Victoria 4's hip when loaded. Depending on what pose you have in mind, there may be occasion to change the parent to the abdomen or chest (Strapless Gown only), or nothing at all. Do not do this unless you are having problems. 10. Change the Fold Resistance, Shear Resistance, and Stretch Resistance values if the garment is getting mangled. Otherwise, it's best to leave the numbers at their default values. 11. Although not recommended, it is possible to use underwear beneath the dress or skirts, though results will probably be poor. For semi-transparent dress textures, a much better alternative than using underwear is using "second skin" textures and spandex morphs, unless you really love those Visible Panty Lines.
