Cloth Textures Volume 5 by HandspanStudios 2/16/2007

Thanks for purchasing Cloth Textures Volume 5. These files can be stored anywhere you like, you should create a folder for them wherever you would like to store them, then unzip them to that location. Tiling textures should be usable in any program that's set up for them. Try creating Bryce materials, deep paint brushes, Poser 5 or 6 materials etc.

All files begin ctv5, that stands for cloth textures volume 5, followed by a number or name so the files won't write over any other cloth textures from previous collections. Most of the lace and trim tiles only seamlessly repeat one way, they're for the edges and bottom hems of sleeves skirts etc. The buttons, embellishment flowers and bows are transparent PSP layers, pre cut out with drop shadows, also inluded PICT files for Mac users (no drop shadows on black), the black can be made into a transparency by use as an alpha channel, the Pict files will probably only be suitable for use against a dark color. You can just plunk the PSP layer down as a new layer on top of your fabric and position as you like. The rest tile seamlessly. I use them as texture fill brushes in PSP because you can scale, rotate etc. There is a tutorial on my site about how to do that here:

To use these as poser 5 or 6 materials, load the object and select the material zone you want to work with. Then go to "Diffuse_Color" and select "New Node". Then select "2d textures" and "Image_Map". The first thing to do is assign the map by clicking "Image Source" and browsing 'till you find the fabric tile you want. The way you tell Poser how many times to repeat the tile and in what proportions are the controls U_Scale and V_Scale. To make bumps just grey scale the image and save it as thenamebump.jpg and apply it the same way to the node "bump". Some pattern dyed cloth will not make good bumps with this method as the dark and light patterns will look raised or depressed. You can fix this by adding a darken and/or lighten layer and bringing the colored bits to 50% grey by painting them. You can also make a sheer cloth by creating a tranparency map or just making the material min/max transparency about 20%. The lace and crochet can be used as it's own transparency map, though you might need to bring the contrast up and desaturate until it's straight black and white (white is opaque and black is transparent greys are inbetween).

This product is intended as a "merchant resource", it may be used to create uv map textures for sale, please don't redistribute these in their original tiling form. Intended to represent real fabrics in works of art only.

You'll need:
1) A program to unzip files.
2) A program that can use tiling textures
