Installation Instructions: Simply UnZip The Sign Construction Kit file to the folder that you have installed Poser in. Make sure in your UnZip program that you have User Folder Names selected so the files will install into the proper sub-folders under your Poser folder. Usage Instructions: Once The Sign Construction Kit is installed you should find a new Category in the Poser Props Library called Hawkin-Z GraF-X. In here you will see all 6 signs. Simply select the sign of your choice and click the plus sign to add it to your scene. Applying Texture Maps and Bump Maps: Each sign is stored with all materials set to white so they will not affect the texture map color. Each sign is supplied with 4 Texture Maps. A Blank one, a plain wood texture, a bump map and a wood textured sign with wording. Open the Blank Texture Maps in your favorite image editing program such as Paint Shop Pro and paint it as you like. Or, Use the pre-textured maps to obtain great looking signs right away. To apply a Texture Map to a Sign. Simply load the sign into your scene and select it. Then select Render -> Materials. Make sure the Object is set to your sign. Place a check mark in the Texture Changes Apply to Entire Figure. In the Texture Map window select Load and browse to \Runtime\textures\Hawkin-Z GraF-X\Sign Construction Kit. Select the supplied texture map that corresponds to the sign you are working with. If you have Sign1 loaded then select Sign1 Textured.jpg or Sign1 Textured Go Back.jpg. To apply a Bump Map to a Sign. Bump maps are supplied in .jpg grey scale format to save space in the product file. Simply select Load in the Bump Map Window and browse to \Runtime\textures\Hawkin-Z GraF-X\Sign Contruction Kit. Select the bump map that corresponds to the sign you are working with. If you have Sign1 loaded then select Sign1 Textured Bump.jpg as the bump map file. Poser will then ask you if you would like to convert the file. Simply answer yes and after a little time Poser will have converted the file to Poser bump format. Adjust your bump maps Strength to the desired level. 30%-90% works well. Also remember that lighting plays a big role in how well a bump map shows up. Direct lighting will tent to wash you bump map out where indirect lighting will really allow the bump map to show. Render your scene and you should have a Photo Realistic sign to work with. Tips: Open the supplied pre-textured Texture Maps in your image editing program. Add a new layer to the image and apply any words you like to the sign. To make the words appear washed out use your eraser tool set the Opacity, Density and Hardness to low levels (under 50%) and the Eraser Type to something like Parchment. Select the layer that has the letters in it and lightly work the eraser over them. This should wash out the letters to help give a weathered look. [end]
