In a post apocalyptic world after most of humanity has perished.  The landscape has been taken over by insect-like robots capable of easily maneuvering the rough and littered terrain.  Conscious, networked together, and now the dominant species on the planet, their on-going mission is to completely wipe out any threats to their existance.  Humans, being at the very top of their list.
