1950's Classic 8mm Movie Camera for Poser Author'd by Madd Matt (Matthew Frizzell), ©2009 Thanks for purchasing the 1950's Classic 8mm Movie Camera for Poser, a little piece of filmmaking history for you to render and enjoy! 8mm Film Format Background: ------------------------------------ This model is based on the 8mm Brownie Movie Camera Turret f/1.9 home movie camera introduced by the Eastman Kodak company in 1955. The format for this camera is often referred to as "Double 8" film, developed by Kodak in 1932 to provide the public wiith a low cost alternative to using the otherwise expensive 16mm format. This format is often confused with it's more famous successor, "Super 8" film. How it works: 25' of 16mm film was loaded in the camera, with the first pass of the film exposing a row of frames down one half of the film's length. When the end of the roll was reached, the user flipped and swapped the spools and ran the film through the camera a second time, exposing frames running down the previously unexposed half of the film's length. After processing, the film would be split down the middle into two 8mm lengths and attached at the ends, making a single 50' length of 8mm film. System Requirements / Limitations: ------------------------------------ - Tested successfully in Poser 6 & 7 on PC. Created in Poser 7. - This product should work in Poser 8, however I can't guarantee proper functionality in that version. - Not recommended for use in Poser 5 and earlier, as surface properties are NOT supported by those versions. - Not tested in Daz Studio. Installation: ------------------------------------ Simply unzip the contents of the "1950s_8mm_camera.zip" file into your main Poser directory. The 8mm Movie Camera figure main figure file will be found in your "Figures\50s_8mm_Camera\" folder. Required Files: ------------------------------------ Aside from Poser version 6 or later, no other items or software are required to use this product. 8mm Movie Camera Figure Notes: ------------------------------------ This 8mm Movie Camera is a full-fledged Poser figure, with five parameter dials for posing the figure's parts, located in the figure's "BODY" parameter box. "Rotate Lenses" rotates the lens turret, in 60° increments per full number value. (i.e: 1 = 60°, 2 = 120°, etc.) "Fold Viewfinder" is intended to fold both viewfinder components at once for user convenience. They can be manually folded via their individual body part entries, if individual movement is required by your scene. The film spool and door smart props that come parented to the camera's main body can be selected on their own, moved around, and if desired, deleted if your scene requires it. If you've deleted these objects and need to replace them, replacement smart props can be found in the "Props\50s_8mm_Camera" folder that will automatically parent themselves when loaded. Props: ------------------------------------ Various film spool smart props are available in the "Props\50s_8mm_Camera" folder, used to depict the camera in varying states of being loaded, running, or in need of a film change. These will load pre-parented into position on the camera's body. The "Film_Spool_Empty" and "Film_Spool_Full" props load unparented items into the scene for use as standalone props.
