LongDrape Hair is a unique Carrara Hair that you can drape to exactly fit your character's pose. It comes with a choice of four preset lengths and five preset styles. LongDrape Hair also comes with a set of three additional shader-based styles, and 20 different realistic and fantastic hair colours - there are literally thousands of possible combinations! Please note that this hair works in Carrara only and is intended for use directly on the V4 or M4 model, ie. it does not use a skullcap model. It will therefore automatically conform to changes in head shape and can be used with all V4 variations - A4, G4, SF4, Stephanie 4 Elite - as well as all M4-based figures. If you are not used to using Carrara dynamic hair, you may find that the program appears to run slower than usual or pauses to recalculate the hair - this is normal. Hair also requires a relatively long time to render, particularly with complex lighting. In order to achieve a high level of realism, Sidelong Hair uses tens of thousands of individual hairs, each with many segments, so it is understandable that it requires a lot of processing, but this is the trade-off required to render such realistic hair. I have set a parameter on the hair so that preview windows only show 5% of the hair strands in order to optimise performance while editing - but your renders will still use the full complexity for maximum quality. You may need to use Add Folder in Carrara to see the files - you only need to do this once. Having installed LongDrape Hair to your Carrara program folder, you may need to use Add Folder (upper right of the Browser window) to add the hair objects and shaders. Under your Carrara program folder: Presets/Hair/PhilW/LongDrape Hair Presets/Shaders/Hair/LongDrape Hair ******************** IMPORTANT USGAE TIPS ******************** The hair models will look odd when first loaded, this is because they need to be draped to exactly match the pose of your character - this is what makes this hair uniquely versatile. To use LongDrape Hair, please view the following video tutorials: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4C90KA0_-9U http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z0I8NX5Nc5k In summary the steps are as follows: - Load your V4 or M4 into Carrara and set up your final pose; - Load the Faceshield onto the "Head" of your figure (V4 or M4 appropriate to your character); - Drag and drop one of the LongDrape Hair models onto "Model" which is the first line under the name of your V4 or M4. - Go to the Hair room, dynamics tab and select Drape All; - Watch the drape and press Escape when you are happy with the drape; - Select Convert to fix the hair in position - DO NOT FORGET! - Select the Push tool, go to the tools tab, enter 0.03 ft (recommended value but feel free to play!) and select Apply; - Optional - Deselect Angle or Distance Along in the Interpolation section for different looks; - Optional - use the cut tool to trim the edges of the hair for a more even appearance; - To use the hair shaders, simply Drag and Drop one of the many hair colour shaders onto the hair; - To use the preset Frizz, Kink and Wave settings, drag and drop to the appropriate line in the Texture Room. As with any hair, the exact look and colour will depend on the lighting as well as the colour choice. Using just indirect lighting will give a relatively flat look to the hair, it is recommended that you have at least one direct light source to create highlights in the hair. Depending on your lighting, you may want to increase or decrease the amount of highlight on the hair, simply change the setting in the Highlight line of the hair shader.
