-------------------------------------- Product Name: Steam Plant (Steampunk Castle Construction Kit 2) Copyright 03-26-2011 (c) Robert Blanda By: Robert Blanda Contact: Cybertenko -------------------------------------- System Requirements: PC, Poser 6 and higher, (not tested on MAC) -------------------------------------- Product Description: Structures like our model of Steam Plant were build when larger volumes of high pressure Steam were necessary for maintaining production speed. Earlier Steam producing facilities built inside alchemistic castles can satisfy such demand and therefore began building of various steam plants inside or outside castle walls. Such buildings consisted from large boiler tank, several furnaces, chimneys and other necessary equipment. Most of such boilers were consecrated and named as glory bodies with noble purpose – to produce The Steam. Most of them were also decorated with holy phrases or vociferations. Steam Plants were operated by members of Order of Holy Stoker Monks since such noble work not be done by anybody. You will find the items in Materials and Props folders named SP Castle/Steam Plant. Textures are stored in respective folder. -------------------------------------- Usage Tips or Limitations: Using Tips Using of Steampunk Castle Construction Kit is quite easy and it depends on your personal preferen-ces. There are three main workflow styles for using this item. Instant Play Instant Play is the best choice if you need to build plant scenery quickly and just out of the box. Just select given prop preset and load it. You will get the Steam Plant as it looks on the promo pictures. Such Steam Plant Preset consists form various independent objects - props which are parented to its logical parent or to main Presets Parent which is labeled BASE. So if you need to move the whole Steam Plant just select the Boiler Base BASE prop (which is the main parent for whole Steam Plant) and move it. If you need to move only some subsequent part, find its local parent and move that. Please use the Poser hierarchy editor, where you can see all props parented into groups and where you can either fold or unfold the groups to your liking and for the most clarity. For the best render result choose IBL lighting and raytracing. I made good experience with use of skydome, particularly Terradome environment or skydome included in IN Wavecutter product by winnston1984 which is used for some promos. Model and textures are suitable for long distance shots as well as for closeups. For closeups shots you may need to lower some texture map bumps since these are set for medium to long distances on higher values. Some objects, like Big Boiler itself uses UV mapped texture instead of tile textures, so you may need to apply some included tiled texture for extreme close-ups. All windows (which are also independent objects) use the high ambience value, so it will glow in low density lightning. Steampunk Castle Construction Kit volume 2 includes several movable or variable items. In Furnace House preset you will find movable door leading to simplified interior with three furnaces. You can use these furnaces independently outside the building if you like. For coal in coal bunker you can use dial for setting the level and therefore the amount of coal inside the bunker and lastly weather vane at the Tall Chimney can be rotated or removed for different look of the stack. Modify The second workflow style presumes you will load the premade presets and want the slightly or considerably modify it, edit it… It is midway style between instant play and building from scratch, since you will use most of presets configuration but you will alter it according to your needs. You can for example delete some part of preset (such as towers, gangplanks, armature plates and so on.) You may also need to duplicate some feature, such as windows, doors and so on. You can also retexture some parts. All that you can do from material room where you choose the proper prop, its material zone and apply some of given material preset or sample texture from another part of the model of course from your own material collection. From inside the material room you can also choose alternative texture for the walls, except the default old stone stonewall. You will have additional dark stone, light stone or rough stone patterns and for even more distinctive look you can use concrete texture on the walls and made some more modern looking structures. You retextured materials may need different scale so either make some test renders or switch on hardware shading in render setting window – preview rendering to see the current scaling of texture. For duplicating features like windows you can do so at… For parented props you will be asked if you want duplicate also the parent, which may or may not help you with placement of cloned prop. Choose either possibility according your actual need. For placing or moving the props may be better to use orthogonal cameras which will help you more precisely place the item. You can resave sour modified presets to the library for next use. Build from Scratch Building from scratch is possibly the most creative work with any construction set content items. With Steampunk Castle Construction Kit volume 2 you can built wide array of interesting fantastic of historical correct structures. You will start with loading any presets and choosing its individual parts for resaving. This way you can make your own presets or semi-presets used for further building. For building from scratch you generally use all guidelines provided above, but you definitely use more creativity. The best is probably either load some of provided preset and then cannibalize it – delete parts you don’t need and resave the rest or just choose parts you like and these save into library. You can thus make your own presets or semi-presets and then use them for your own projects. In such work you are limited only by your imagination and fantasy. You can look to some promo pictures, where are some examples or ideas for building totally new buildings. Most of objects are closed boxes so you rotate them, translate and intersect with any other objects. You can even resize them, but be frugal and do not stretch it too much otherwise the textures will look bad. If you do so, you can use some procedural materials for which the stretching of UVs is not a problem. Don’t forget, you can use only a part of objects and the rests hide into terrain, into other objects or even out of camera view. You can use some objects in totally different way, Finally add some doors or windows, balconies, stairs and so on. Doors and windows are modeled as deeper boxes, so you can sink them into surface as far as needed, just be sure, the surface of the glass (usually the “blindglass” material) is still visible. All windows are set to glow in low density lightning by using their ambient attribute. This Steampunk Castle Construction Kit volume 2 Steam Plant goes well with previous release of Old Donjon as volume 1. All parts share the same visual look, modeling style, same workflow and renders similarly. In the futures expansions you will get some other building presets of individual parts, so stay focused on the next release. When installing this model with previous release – Old Donjon, you may be asked to overwrite some of texture files – simply confirm that, since both models use some of textures together. One or more textures on this 3D model have been created with images from CGTextures.com. These images may not be redistributed by default, please visit www.cgtextures.com for more information. -------------------------------------- Files Included in the Product: License.txt Steam Plant Manual.pdf Steam_Plant_README.txt \Promos main promo.jpg SP Castle promo 1.jpg SP Castle promo 2 CONCEPT.jpg SP Castle promo 3 CONCEPT.jpg SP Castle promo 4 CONCEPT.jpg SP Castle promo 5 CONCEPT.jpg SP Castle promo 6 EXAMPLES.jpg thumb1.jpg \runtime\Libraries\Materials\SP Castle Armature.mt5 Armature.png Concrete.mt5 Concrete.png Dark Stone.mt5 Dark Stone.png Light Stone.mt5 Light Stone.png Metal Floor.mt5 Metal Floor.png Metal Plate.mt5 Metal Plate.png Metal Roof.mt5 Metal Roof.png Old Stone.mt5 Old Stone.png Rough Stone.mt5 Rough Stone.png Stone Floor.mt5 Stone Floor.png Stone Wall.mt5 Stone Wall.png Verdigris.mt5 Verdigris.png \runtime\Libraries\props\SP Castle\Steam Plant Steam Plant.png Steam Plant.pp2 \runtime\Reflection Maps\SPCastle B5.jpg L35.jpg \runtime\Textures\SPCastle blackstone.jpg blackstone_B.jpg coal.jpg coal_B.jpg ConcreteTiled.jpg ConcreteTiled_B.jpg darkbrick.jpg darkbrick_B.jpg decayedrust.jpg decayedrust_B.jpg decayedrust_S.jpg lightstone.jpg lightstone_B.jpg navalwallseamless.jpg navalwallseamless_B.jpg oldstone.jpg oldstone_B.jpg rivetedverdigris.jpg rivetedverdigris_D.jpg Rooftile.jpg Rooftile_B.jpg roughstone.jpg roughstone_B.jpg roughyellowstone.jpg roughyellowstone_B.jpg rust.jpg rusted3.jpg rusted3_b.jpg rusted4.jpg rusted4_b.jpg rustrivets.jpg rustrivets2.jpg rustrivets2_B.jpg rustrivets3.jpg rustrivets3_B.jpg rustrivets_B.jpg rust_B.jpg smokedbrick.jpg smokedbrick_B.jpg smokedrust.jpg smokedrust_B.jpg stainedwindow1.JPG stainedwindow1_AO.jpg stonefloor_B.jpg stonefloor_N.jpg treadtile.jpg treadtile_S.jpg Wood.jpg yellowrust.jpg yellowrust_B.jpg \runtime\Textures\SPCastle\STEAMPLANT BIGBOIL_tank.jpg BIGBOIL_tank_B.jpg BIGBOIL_wood.jpg BIGBOIL_wood_B.jpg fire.jpg FUN_roofplates.jpg FUN_roofplates_B.jpg FUR_banner.jpg FUR_interior.jpg FUR_interior_B.jpg FUR_roofplates.jpg FUR_roofplates_B.jpg SCH_stackwall.jpg SCH_stackwallbase.jpg SCH_stackwallbase_B.jpg SCH_stackwall_B.jpg SMBO_tankmetal.jpg SMBO_tankmetal_B.jpg TCH_stackwall.jpg TCH_stackwall2.jpg TCH_stackwall2_B.jpg TCH_stackwall2_D.jpg TCH_stackwall_B.jpg TCH_stackwall_D.jpg TCH_vanemetal.jpg TCH_vanemetal_B.jpg TCH_vanemetal_D.jpg
