-------------------------------------- Product Name: Steampunk Street Copyright 04-30-2011 (c) Robert Blanda By: Robert Blanda Contact: Cybertenko -------------------------------------- System Requirements: PC, Poser 6 and higher, (not tested on MAC) -------------------------------------- Product Description: Steampunk Architecture is significant by abundant use of steel, iron, stone and other anorganic materials. Wood on the other side is used rarely as it is considered as inferior material and mainly at those places where it is necessary for the comfort of users, like doors or windows, since the use of metal would be to heavy for manipulation. Steampunk Architecture is typical with using various steel or iron armatures, plating and other metal details. Glass is also very popular not only in use of windows but also for many cupolas, skylights, rooflights and similar. Very popular are also countless industrial parts most of which are used for pure decoration pruposes. Buildings are inspired by industrial plants, factories or even ships. Metals are often let to naturaly rust, sunce rust is considered as higly aeshtetic decoration. Our construction kit presents several typical steampunk architecture details and parts from which almost limitless selection of houses and other buldings can be built. Not only steampunk style buildings can be built from this item, you may use it also for various historical look of buildings like gothic, renaissance, empire, classicism, art nouveau, industrial and so on. This product is also very useful for making fantasy looking streets or even for sci-fi visions. For rendering turn on raytracing and use of discplacement maps. -------------------------------------- Usage Tips or Limitations: Using of Steampunk Street is easy and depends on your personal preferences. Item is itended as advanced type of backdrop, but since it is construction kit, you can use it for also fully closed scenes. Both model and textures are very detailed and therefore can be used for distant renderes as well as for closeups. The optimal distance for renders is complex shot, since it shows most of provided street props. Base part of this item is simple street figure, which consists form three body parts and two smart props. Body parts - Wall, Street and Patch can be independently hidden for more various look of item. Body part Patch need be hidden (turn visibility off) when using open manhole prop. (Manhole prop loads with deafult closed hatch, which you can "open" by rotation dials and repositioning or you can use "Open Hatch" prop with hatch turned upside down and put slightly aside the hole. Pavement and curb are constructed as smart prop (pavement parented to steampunk street body and curb parented to pavemnet) so you can remove all pavement for more rustical look of the street, or you can duplicate the pavement for higher step and so on. For simple figure oriented renders you may use only one street figure but for more complex shot it is recommended you will load several figures and form them into street. You can choose between two wideness of the street (roughly): for wider streets line two street figures across each other so the sides of street body parts will touch, for narrower street hide street body part for one figure and line it with pavement on the other. Most parallel props (like electric wires or electric poles) are modeled for one size of street props, so when using more figures, you need to duplicate theese props and line them one behind the other. The next base prop is House Structre, simple block as a building element for the houses. For these houses ten materials (facades) are provided. Since house prop is not parented to street figure for easier manipulation, you need to apply desired facade texture from material room by choosing needed *.mt5 material file. After loading house structure, you can continue with building the house by loading various props or prop collections. All props load roughly at zero postion, but you may need to repostion them to desired postion. Then parent them to current house structure prop. House structure prop becomes main parent for all props and by moving it, you will move all house to necessary position. For better understanding this workflow and for easier work ten house presets are provided withing this item. You may use them as they are, modify them or just use them as insipiration for building your own houses and building. Most of props have higher displacement or bump setting which give them more dramatic look for complex shots - for closer renders you may need to lower these setting or even switch displacement to bump. Both street and pavement surface uses high displacement so you need to position figures (people, vehicles etc) a little bit higher othervise they willl look like sunk into bloated surface. Houses Presets All of 10 houses loads with one of 10 provided textures and with one parented props configuration - forming the look and style of the house. You may deleted some of props or reconfigure them or use them as they are. Each of house presets are inspired by certain style - some more historicaly accurate, some are industrial or pure "steampunk" styled. Don´t forgot you can use props in most unusual way or use "different" texture for them, like for example the wooden etage prop can be textured with rust metal for more industrial look. Doors and Windows For use of windows and doors you can choose your own dislocation withing the wall and also set how far window shoould be sinked into house facade surace. Doors and windows are modeled as deeper boxes, so you can sink them into surface as far as needed, just be sure, the surface of the glass (usually the “blindglass” material) is still visible. All windows are set to glow in low density lightning by using their ambient attribute. Lanterns All three type of light objects have also ambient value set on so their light sources will glow in dimly lit environment. Street lamp has its own light preset with spotlight simulating the light cone emited from the lantern. If you need to move lantern from its default postion, you need to move that spotlight as well. Light Presets Steampunk street is published with six light presets from various time of day (dawn, morning, midday, sunset and night) and one preset for street lamp in default postion. When other then default camera angle is used you may need to repostion the light "sunlight" so it will better lit the scene. This light can also be point to some key element of the scene. Poses There are four poses for M4 and one pose for V4 as a bonus for your work with this product. Some of poses uses props in special positioning, for use with these poses please use the correct props which have the same name as the name of M4/V4 pose (Dustman and Homeless). Night Man Poses needs the open manhole prop and open hatch prop. For use of lampligher poses load both M4 and street lamp, then load lamplighter pole smart prop and finally apply the M4 lamlighter pose. You can than parent streetlamp to M4 and move all of them to desired location. One or more textures on this 3D model have been created with images from CGTextures.com.
