(Not in the runtime folder) e.g.: C:\Program Files\Poser 8 ***IMPORTANT*** ** All of the content in this package were created by Cameron Kitching ** Redistribution of any part, in any form is prohibited. ** You should have the latest Update for Poser 8 ** I have not tested it on Mac Computers so it may not work right. ** You need at least 44 MB of Free space on your hard drive. ** I have not tested them in any other version of poser [NOTES] Posing dudes: 1) Default poser poses work pretty good with dudes, except for the hands and feet. AlienDudes hands and feet have 2 bones in them so you'll have to manually setup the hands and feet when using most poser poses. Hand poses don’t work because they only have 2 fingers. 2) Dudes are short with big heads so their head usually gets in the way. On some poser default poses you may need to adjust the head or the arms a bit. 3) Joint limits and IK work together with dudes. Make sure you turn on Joint limits when using IK or you may get dudes bending the wrong way. Texturing dudes: **Note** Not all objects come with image map textures. Some use poser's internal materials. All geometries objects are UV mapped. Just open the .obj file in your favourite UV map program and save a template to create your own textures. 1) Eyes : Dudes have an outer eye and an inner eye. The outer eye is transparent and has the spec, reflect and refract material settings. When raytrace is set to off the outer eye has a reflection map applied and a refraction map applied. There are 6 outer eye presets with different color refraction maps that create a cool mixed color effect when partnered with the 6 different inner eye colors. When raytrace is turned on, the raytrace takes care of the reflection and refraction. The inner eye holds the color and bump maps. There are 2 types of inner eye textures. First is an alien looking texture and the second is a cartoon like eye with a pupil and an iris. 2a) Skin : Dudes have 2 high resolution skin textures with high resolution bump maps (black and white version of color map) these textures are 4096x4096. These textures work with the 9 material presets for normal looking skin. To modify the color of Dudes skin, open the body surface, apply a material preset and modify the hsv shader node. 2b) Space suit skin : The Space suit conforming clothing for Dudes, is not complete without the suit's skin texture material preset applied to Dudes body. This texture map is also 4096x4096 and comes with a bump map. 2c) Underskin : I've included Dudes "meat" texture. This is used to make dudes muscle show under the skin when the light hits it. The Realistic skin material presets and the meat material preset use this texture map. 2d) Realistic skin : There are 3 Dudes Realistic skin material preset. 2 of the presets work without AO lighting and the third works with AO lighting nicely. 3)VERY IMPORTANT* Dudes body textures have Texture filtering turned OFF (located on the body texture image nodes). For some reason I get seams when its turned on so leave it off when using dudes default body texture maps. If you convert dudes to another version poser (poser 4,5,6) make sure you locate the Texture filtering option in the render settings and turn it off or you may get seams. 4) To keep file size down I did not include any texture templates or additional skin color textures. 5) I've included additional reflection maps for the eyes in the texture folder that are not setup in any materials. To use them, you'll have to brows the texture folder. (runtime\textures\Spud3dDotCom\aliendudesV2\alien dudes\). Just change the image map connected to the sphere map on the outer eye material to change the reflection map. Morph targets and Master Controls: 1a) FBM: dudes have FBM (Full body morphs) for their bellies and to flex all their muscles. The Flex FBM has also been broken up to allow just the Flex of the left/right arms, and the flex of the left/right legs. In most cases the FBM Flex morphs on the limbs don’t look right unless you use the FBM controls on the body. 2) Dudes aren’t meant to have face expressions cause there a telepathic alien (think body language) but their heads have morphs to change their scull and give them different appearances. Half of the morphs on the head are Split L/R of other morphs. This just gives more control over how you manipulate Dudes look. 3) Dudes Eyes have a master control on the head for advanced eye controls. What this means is when you use these advance eye controls, the area around the eye moves with the eye to add a more lifelike effect when the eyes are moving. I added this because Dudes don’t have pupils and it’s not easy to see the eyes moving when animated. The 8 Advanced eye morph targets on the head work with this master control and are not designed to be used without it. 4) Master controls : The hands and feet have master controls assigned to them that make them easier to use. The Hip has a master channel that makes Dudes bend forward and backwards. There is no need to use these master channels if you'd rather bend each body part yourself. Props : 1) The H3 Ship is just a prop and has no moving parts. 2) The Space Suit is not one object. I've broken the suit up into 3 conforming parts. When putting the space suit on Dudes make sure they conform to the Aliendude and not to other pieces of the suit. After adding the SpaceBoots, open the Hierarchy editor (in poser: Window : Hierarchy) and hide the toes, toe and feet of the Dudes Figure so they fit. The Boots were not intended to hide the feet within them. 3) The land prop and SkySphere included do not include morphs. I mainly used these for testing Dudes in different environments.
