Of course I'd love to see any pictures you do make with the set :) ************************************************************************** Product Description: The Retreat is a set of .obj files with Daz-ready and Poser materials. Designed for use in Daz and Poser. Can also be used (although has not been tested in or optimised for) by any program which can open a .obj file. The Retreat contains: The Retreat Spa building With four curtains - open/close and billow morphs included for each curtain Wall taps which swivel Plain material and a fake caustic material (see below) Fake caustic materials for the Spa: These are ambient maps which fake the look of water lights or caustics. Whilst they do not replace a good caustic light gel or other effect, they provide an artistic version of the same look. Floating Candle with lit and unlit materials Massage mat Hurricane Lamp Orchid Shallow tray Three shapes of massage stone A loaded tray with stones, orchids and candle all pre-parented Three starter poses for v4 Three starter poses for M4 Daz Studio Users: Fake caustic materials for M4 and V4 - as above, they are ambient maps and produce a subtle artistic effect which can be used with most V4 and M4 skins. They are applied with a one-click material setting, found in the 'Poses' folder under 'The Retreat Daz Material Files'. Daz optimised materials are included and now automatically load for all individual props and the main building. The 'Tray Full' prop will still need to have it's Daz material applied manually, but if you select all the items in the tray, then click on the 'Tray Full - Daz Mat' icon in 'The Retreat Daz Material Files', it loads the materials all in one go. Poser Users: Unfortunately we couldn't get the code for the V4 and M4 Fake Caustics to work with my version of Poser (6) so rather than send something out that we weren't totally sure would be right, there is a mini-tutorial supplied in .pdf and .jpg form to show how to apply the ambient maps manually to your V4 and M4 poser figures. Sadly we can't apply the material with a one-click icon, but it is still possible to add it manually, if you want. The mini-tutorial can be found in the 'Documents' folder which explains how to do this. This is supplied in both .pdf and .jpg format, and will require a program which can open one or both. Candle Lit Candle Unlit Spa Plain Spa with Caustics ******************************************************************************* Usage tips/Limitations: POSER USERS: Don't forget to tick 'Displacement Maps Enabled' in your 'Render Settings' tab to see the bumpy bits! The renders will still work fine without it, but the models with displacement maps won't show the same amount of surface detail. USING THE FAKE CAUSTIC AMBIENT MAPS: When you click on the icon to apply the fake caustics, your selected object will turn a weird glowy shade of zombie green in the preview screen! Don't worry, this is supposed to happen! When you render the picture, you will see the true effect. I'd strongly recommend setting up your scene and lighting first, then applying the caustic maps at last minute, simply because it makes it easier to see what you're doing in the preview screen when things aren't glowing like they're radioactive. For M4 and V4 skins, the ambient maps should work with almost any skin - the only limitation is if the skin itself has an ambient setting - the maps will override this. DAZ STUDIO MATERIALS: All the individual props will now automatially load into Daz with Daz-friendly material settings. For the pre-loaded tray, you will still need to apply the Daz material as I've not figured that out properly ... yet :) However, if you hold down your 'shift' key and select all the items in the tray in your 'Scene' tab, then click on the 'Tray Full - Daz Material' icon it will load all the correct materials all at once. No need to select each item one at a time. It is a very good idea to do this, as although the differences are very subtle with this set, it does make a difference, especially if the prop is rendered quite close-up. DISPLACEMENT AND BUMP: Both change the way they look according to how close the camera is to a prop. The closer you are, the 'bumpier' it looks. If you are rendering very close up, you may need to alter the displacement settings to suit your render. This can be done in the 'Materials' tab in Poser and the 'Surfaces' tab in Daz. It's something that's definately worth playing around with to get the best effect. LIMITATIONS: The product has been tested in Daz2, Daz3, DS3Advanced, Poser 6 and Poser Pro 2010. It should operate on Poser 4 upwards without issues, but we haven't tested in all of them. Not tested on any Macs, sorry.
