NEW TO PROJECT DOGWAFFLE?

After you become familiar with PD Pro painting and animation, have a look for free add-ons, plugins and new versions. Some are free, others may be available at very strong discounts. 


IMPORTANT
=========

You do need the Microsoft .NET Framework 4 installed for this software to properly run.
See the step-by-step installation instructions mentioned in the link shown below for details.

Depending on your version of Windows, there may be other tips of value, such as installing
or running as Administrator or with UAC temporarily disabled. If you have a recent version of 
Windows 7 with service packs it is possible that you already have .Net Framework 4, but still,
be sure to verify. In case of doubt, run the installer/updater.




Installation
========

This release of PD Pro 5.1b comes as a full standalone installer, so you don't need any prior versions
installed on your current computer, even if you bought this version with a discount coupon for upgrading
from a prior version.

Pre-Requisites
===========

You should make sure that the Microsoft .NET framework 4 is installed before you run the PD Pro 5.1b program. We recommend that you install the .Net framework even before installing PD Pro 5.1b, and it may be a good idea to do a reboot after installing the framework, especially on older, slower machines. The framework may download more  components as needed when you run PD Pro, so it's also a good idea to get that workload done before you want to get busy painting with PD Pro ;-)


IMPORTANT NOTES:

Installing as Administrator? Disabling UAC?
===============================
Normally, you should be able to just run the installer, but depending on the system's configuration, you may need to run it as Administrator. See the FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) for help if you don't know how. You also may need to temporarily disable UAC (User Account Control) if you're on Windows VISTA or Windows 7. And, depending on what antivirus you use and whether it has a 'total protection' lock down of system folders, preventing installation of our files, dll's and registration of them or of OCX's, you may also temporarily need to disable your antivirus. If you must do so, then we recommend that you disconnect the system from the network to reduce the risks of attacks while its defenses are down. Be sure to re-enable the AV after successful installation of PD Pro.
 

When you're ready to install, run the included installation file:    

     PD_Pro_5_1_b_setup_Full.exe    Size:  22.9 MB (24,032,687 bytes)


The default installation folder for PD Pro 5 is

     C:\Program Files\Project Dogwaffle Professional

BUT if you already have an earlier version and wish to keep it, you can install v5 in a different folder, as long as you know which is which and where you have them. 

VERY IMPORTANT: If you're on a 64-bit version of Windows, please remember that PD Pro 5 is still a 32-bit application, and should be installed in the (x86) tree to conform:

     C:\Program Files (x86)\Project Dogwaffle Professional


GETTING STARTED
==============

We have created MANY tutorials over the years, most of which are available for free viewing or downloading.


Don't only look for tutorials for your version of PD. Most tutorials from other versions will also be very useful for your version. For example, look for the PD Pro 4 tutorials if you have version 5. Or look for the PD Particles tutorials for any version since all versions have the particle brushes, just perhaps with more or fewer features.
