Welcome to RealGels =================== RealGels is a series of lights with attached gels that are designed to work with the Reality plug-in for DAZ Studio. RealGels are made to help you create dramatic lighting in minutes. A gel, in photography, is a semi-transparent film that is placed in front of a light to change the effect of that light on the scene. RealGels are made to combine the effect of photographic gels and cutouts (gobos) to give you an extreme level of sophistication with the least amount of work. RealGels Volume 1 include ten different patterns. Some have colors, others are meant to be used with colored lights. Take a look at the sample scenes to see examples of usage with different tints of light. RealGels are the easiest way of adding this kind of light to your Reality scene. Simply add the light from StudioÕs Content tab, positioning it to your liking, and call Reality for a beautiful render. In many situations a single light is all that you need and it will render quickly. With RealGels you can move the gel closer or further away from the light to adjust the effect of the gel on your scene, the amount of blurriness of the patterns, and the rotation or angle of the gel. You can do all this independently from the light position. Using the RealGels ================== Many great scenes can be created with just one RealGel. From the folder containing the gels double click on one of the them to add it to your scene. The gel is a combination of a studio spotlight with a glass pane parented to it. The glass pane has a texture applied. To see the texture you need to turn off the Studio Preview Lights. This is done by selecting the "Preview Lights" menu under the "Window" menu (DS4) or the "View" menu (DS3). To adjust the position of the light select the spot and then use the usual Studio controls to position it. If you want to change the texture for the glass pane use this procedure: * In the 3D viewport select the glass pane of the gel. * In the Surfaces tab of Studio select the Glass_Gel material * Double click on any of the "Switch to É" items in the "Gel mats" subfolder The grayscale gels are meant to be used with colored lights. You can leave them as grayscale images at first and then use the RGB color picker in Lux to experiment with the hue of color that you want for the associated spot light. Once you have found the right RGB value copy that value in the Reality light editor. Have fun! RealGels: The power of dramatic lighting at your fingertips! Copyright © 2011 Pret-aÐ3D.
